Is it possible to buy coconut water?

I am currently reading An Embarrassment of Mangoes and the author talks about a drink she makes using coconut water that they get from young coconuts before the water turns to milk.

I was wondering if it was possible to buy coconut water anywhere or if I shouldn't even bother to look. Does anyone know if you can find it and if so what kind of place to look?

I love it and talk about making ya' want to just take off and go sail the Caribbean! I hate that I am almost finished. I kinda don't want to read it because the more I read, the sooner, it will be over.

I am LMAO at the two of you as ya'll don't realize how slow I read. Margo will probably get it right before her trip

Actually, it's 295 pages and I am on 245. Don't ask how long it took me to get that far

I hope to finish it by the end of the week but no promises.

Cat, I have that book if you want me to send it to you.

nothintolose, we buy coconut water at our grocery stores here. We usually have an "International Aisle" with most of the Goya products. The Thai grocery stores have frozen coconut water and the Korean grocery stores have green coconuts that you can open for coconut water.

When we were on JVD for a stay Gregory Callwood's favorite drink was Hennesy and Coconut Water. He turned us on to it. Quite nice!

Cheers, RickG

When we were in TCI, the care taker of the place we rented harvested coconuts for us. At first, I didn't think I would like the water but by the end of the week, I found it refreshing.

nothintolose, check the labels - coconut water does not have sugar added. There is a variety that is sweetened that is a good mixer too.

Rick - this one had sugar added so I didn't know whether to buy it or not; although, the drink recipe in the book calls for condensed milk so I am sure it's gonna be sweet.

Maryanne - thanks...Whole Foods was one of the places I was gonna try.
