We love Maho and always have wondered what this building used to be. Does anyone know?

I think the forum should buy it, fix it up and start our own VIOL Beach Bar with live webcam.
Any other ideas?

According to my Feet, Fins & 4WD, it is a community building available for public use for parties, weddings, etc. Last time I was there, it was boarded up, and apparently it gets rehabilitated from time to time.

Count me in - I could use my retirement as venture capital - oops spoke to soon, I think it disappeared this week! Well, not ready to retire yet anyway - so if it comes back, then count me in!

The building was a private house, built in the early 1950's before there were more than two or three jeeps to disturb you when they drove by! The owner ended up living in St. Thomas and sold the land to the Park--it was, until very recently, the only land on Maho that the NPS had full title to, which is why there is the parking area there. The Friends of the Park financed a renovation of the building in the early '90's for use as a party/community center, but that use was discontinued a few years ago.

I had heard that it was an NPS owned pavillion that you could get a permit for. But, it's been boarded up for 7 years or so.
