Well we pulled the trigger and bought our tickets and rented a villa for the last week of February 2009. This will be our fifth trip back to STJ, and the first in four years. We usually like to take one trip each year to the Caribbean, and we have tried other islands, but nothing seems to compare to STJ. It just seems like home to us. Well hopefully I can get to meet some of you in person at perhaps a Beach Bar gathering during the week that we go. I admit it,
I am a long time lurker, but I think it's time to come out of the closet! On another note we have rented Villa Tre Scalini in the Dever Bay/Chocolate Hole area. Does anyone know about this villa? Haven't found any reviews on the place. Look forward to reading everyones responses, and perhaps adding my two cents when I can.

We will also be on the rock at the end of February, would love to meet other members at the Beach Bar. Welcome to the forum.

We'll be there a month before you. We pulled the trigger on a villa (Surfside) then found another we liked better (Oleander)! Thankfully the rental agency allowed us to make the change since we had booked less than a week ago.

We and another couple also travel each year or so to the Caribbean, but in the past we've tried to visit different place each time. So far we've been to St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Maarten; our last trip was December 2007 to St. John; we all loved it so much we are making a return trip! I have a feeling it won't be our last.

I checked out this forum last year while researching our STJ trip but never signed up. Decided to de-lurk for this trip!! :D

We just booked tre scalini for November '08... so we too would love to hear great news about our destination villa (if anyone has any)!
Otherwise, cariblvr, I will try to remember to post when we get home to give you the 'skinny' before you go in 2/09.

Wow! Lots of de-lurking going on around here! Welcome to the forum y'all! I can't help with the villa, but the reason Beach Bar get-togethers are always on Sunday is because that's when there's live jazz. But I suppose if you organized a get-together yourself, you could make it any day and time you wanted! (you just wouldn't have live jazz) :D

Wow, this is the first I've ever heard of Villa Tre Scalini. I found the VRBO listing, but no reviews. I certainly recognize the view towards St. Thomas - you will have great sunsets. There are a set of steps over that way, I wonder if that is your access to the rocky beach?

Cheers, RickG

Hi all, did anyone ever end up staying at Tre Scalini? I'd be interested in your thoughts on the villa. Thanks a bunch.

We will be on the Island from February 22nd to February 28th. So, see everyone at Beach Bar on Sanday? What time does the party start? This will be our first time.

Unfortunately the dates you posted only include one sunday and that appears to be the day you'd leave (28th). Hopefully you have a late flight out. We will be at the Beach Bar on Sunday, Feb. 28th. Jazz starts at 4 or 4:30.

piscesfish - I travelled with Cariblvr, my creepy uncle, haha, I am sure he still looks at this forum...

I would classify Tre Scalini as a good value. From what I recall we got a good deal on the place. It is fairly close to Cruz Bay. It was clean and the care taker was friendly. The interior decor (which doesnt matter when you are STJ in my opinion) was a bit out of date and you can tell the place hasn't undergone a lot of improvements recently. Although we were there a year ago and things may have changed...

The bedrooms are not all accessible from inside the house, in other words, you have to go out on the deck and climb stairs to get from bedroom to bedroom. This offered great privacy for our group of 3 couples. Although it wouldnt be the best for a family, especially with younger children.

The views of STT and the sunset are great from this villa. Overall I would recommend it.

Good luck.
