TIP # 5,638 (not really but it sounded like a good number!)

Reading this article (see below) reminded me of a STJ tip for newbies and lurkers out there.

When on island I don't usually like to let the gas guage dip below 1/2 a tank. There are a lot of reasons for this as far as I'm concerned.

But among those reasons are that you just never know what will happen in the VI. See the STJ Source article here: http://www.onepaper.com/stjohnvi/?v=d&i ... 1212901531

Similar logic applies when it comes to ATM's and having cash on hand. I never wait until I'm down to my last dollar before I get cash from an ATM on STJ.

Power outages and ATMs that are either broken or out of cash altogether are a regularity. I always make sure I have enough cash on hand to pay for a meal (in case the power goes out and the CC machines aren't working).

That's not to say I carry a ton of cash around with me either. I jsut try to kep a decent balance of gas in my tank and cash in my pocket.

Never let the bottle of your favorite adult beverage dip below the half full mark either.... ya never know when they might run out. Play it safe and keep a spare one or two...

Uh oh... forgot.... too much talk about DRINKING on this forum.... my bad. :P

If it's the favorite beverage, wouldn't it be considered half empty at this critical point?
