EASY dessert

There are so many gourmet cooks on this forum that I am almost too embarrassed to post this recipe! It is just so easy and delicious that I am going to anyway - sorry, no pictures.

In a 13x9 pan pour a can of cherry pie filling and a can of pineapple tidbits (do not drain). Pour a yellow cake mix (dry) over this mixture. Sprinkle chopped pecans over the cake mix. Melt 1 1/4 sticks of butter and pour over the top. Bake on 350 for 30 minutes. This cake/cobbler is so tasty!

I recognize that recipe! Did you get it off the Pioneer Woman site? I'm always looking at her food. I have not actually cooked much of it, but she sure makes whatever she is cooking look beautiful!

Hi liamsaunt - A lady at my church shared the recipe with me. I am not a big fan of cherries but I promise this dessert is delicious!

This was always called the Dump Cake in my circles :)
It's very sweet but good.

We call it the dump cake too. I haven't had it in so long. Another very easy and super quick dessert that gets rave reviews

Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie

1 graham cracker crust
1 container cool whip
1 package chips ahoy cookies
1 cup milk

Take the graham cracker crust, dip the cookies in the milk and layer them on the bottom, then a layer of cool whip, then cookies dipped in milk, then cool whip and then crumble up some of the cookies and sprinkle them on top of the pie. Refrigerate 4 hours or more before serving. People can't believe this is all their is to it. I like to make fancy dessert and this is what my husband's family ALWAYS wants me to fix. It is great when I'm in a bind!

Chet, we're coming over for dessert on Saturday night after Jimmy Buffet. Then we can hit Eastern Market for breakfast Sunday around 2PM. d00d!

Thanks for the recipe Jamie! Made it last night for a BBQ at a friend's and everyone loved it. Making it again tonight for an outdoor party. We're in a rental house while our house gets an addition, so I have very limited kitchen stuff with me right now and it was great to have this easy recipe!

So glad you liked it chicagoans! I am thinking about making it again tonight and using blueberry pie filling instead of cherries...

Isn't dump cake great! Sis-in-law made one using fruit cocktail once. She needed a dessert for a last minute get together, and didn't have any other kind of canned fruit. It turned out really well, we served it with a dollop of cool-whip.

This recipe has been a staple for Girl Scouts for many years, as it can be made in a dutch oven over a camp fire - it is referred to as a Dump Cake in all of their training and cookbooks. Along with all of the other favorites like pie iron pies, banana boats, fried eggs, etc. (what can I say, in my other life I was a volunteer for many years)

This could explain why I could never participate in a gourmet food thread, all recipes must have tin cans, foil or dutch ovens, before I could remember them for any length of time!
