it's about time to head back to stj and bride reminded me i promised her to get her closer to north shore and so less driving. been staying upper choc hole and gifft hill so we're spoiled by sunsets but many of fav villas now have pond bay dev view.
have spotted a couple of interesting ones terrahawk and orion's hill that have some availibilty 9/18 to early oct (looking for 7 to 10 days during that period). good reviews on both. run across another "It's about time" on ajax mt, good location and looks good on viva site, but sure does have a lot of opentime and can't find any reviews.
any body know anything about her or others in area that would work for 2. MUST HAVE ac at least in bedrooms.
thanks,
papabou
in reviewing after post i noted i opened with the the name of the villa i was inquiring about. a sign? pb

Hey Papabou!
All your choices look great! Maybe Viva will give you a discount on "It's About Time" since it is wide open!
Let us know if you will be on island the first week in Oct.~~~ We would love to buy you and your bride a cocktail to thank you for the great review of Cloud 9. We loved the place last year with the whole family!
Just 6 weeks till Sea Spirit villa near Salt Pond! Talk about seclusion & killer views!!!
Cheers to you!

colleen,
sea spirit is my kind of place, great views and while no sunsets, you get sunrises. bride says anything that happens before 9am is a waste and location is tooooo remote for her. oh well, can't ditch her after 42 yrs.
appreciate the drink offer and we'll be in touch if we will be down overlapping times. you know us though we go when there are empty seats out of atl and a good last minute discount on a villa. we'll also be watching weather. been twice the sec week in oct, once perfect weather and the next yr with the grankids and we had a monsoon (& we were at c9 and did a lot of opening and closing of tthe fench doors).
look forward to reading your report on stay at ss.
peace,
papabou

Here's two to look at papabou. Check out Summer Wind on Bordeax Mtn.
http://www.caribbeanvilla.com/summerwind/index.html It's a great location close to the smoothie stand and the northshore road. Next time we go with just hubby and myself we want to stay at Sunnyledge
http://www.stjohnusvivillas.com/sunnyledge.htm . We don't need a pool and this house has everything but a pool. It even get sunsets at Frances Bay and the views are fabulous.

Don't know were the sun sets in October but we had great sunsets from Orions in May. We really liked the place, awesome views and a very homey feel to it. It's also less than ten minutes to Maho.

diana, sunnyledge looks great but i had looked at previouly after some good reviews. while she's convenient to francis, maho & waterlemon, she's just too far away from everthing else. i had summerwind on list for when traveling with another couple due to size. but rate wise she's in line with others we're looking at since can get by with one bedroom since master has king bedding. (bride doesn't do queen beds either, picky, picky, picky). the location might be good compromise too; kind of in the middle of island and downhill to beaches! we enjoy dinner on the deck but pics do not show an outside dining area. do you know if there is one in front of great room?
captk, love your fri pics and one of reasons orions is on short list is your great post from the spring. i believe sun will be more to left behind stt in late sept but still would be some good views to west. o'shill is probably too far out for her but "she do like sunsets".
i've driven ajax mnt rd to the drive that turns off to left up to aria, orions etc. she looks a little step. i'm not sure bride can take many more gasps for the last stretch to villa. how is it and is it paved? my recollection all dirt past the turn off to bay view/its about time etc. we've stayed on upper rockridge a couple of times, one lane but paved and she was ok closing her eyes. comfort was probably knowing not likely to meet a concrete or water truck doing 40 and no rocks being slung out from under jeep.
thanks to all.

Summerwind has a nice grill and table in the covered veranda in front of the great room. It's so quite and peaceful up there and the road is flat all the way to the house. No scary driveway.

Orions is cement the whole way, peice of cake nice and smooth. I always screached the tires on the sharp right, up the hill, at the gate on purpose, always pissed my honey off

Never encountered a cement truck I think they are done on Ajax Road for cement right now

thanks for the info folks. looks like summerwind and orions are the short list. that said, i do acknowledge that 1 reason we've been married 42 years is a little give and take. i only have to hope the bride doesn't takeum off the shortlist.
