Wondering what kind of food is served here as most everyone on this forum speaks highly of it. I am pretty much a plain Jane where food is concerned, although my traveling companions will eat just about anything on the menu. Can I get a basic steak or chicken dish, or should I be thinking just salad? I do not eat seafood either... I know, pretty boring.

I couldn't find a website for the restaurant, but is there a menu posted somewhere else?

they don't have a web site and there menu changes based on what's available. If you are in to salad Josephine's greens with goat cheese is one of the best I've ever had.

The night we went I had the salad and 2 small plates. One an artichoke and the other fire roasted shrimp or something! Delish. Honey lavendar ice cream for dessert.

Hi Martini Girl,

No website for La Tapa.

La Tapa always has a chicken dish on the menu. It is a breast, bone in, skin on. I had it once because John was insisting on getting a bottle of wine that would not go with fish ( :x ). It was definitely plain-ish. They make everything from scratch so if you want a sauce or seasoning off, they will do that for you.

It's funny, I don't remember red meat on their menu, just fish, shellfish, duck, and chicken. But, I don't eat red meat, so maybe that's why I don't remember it. La Tapa has great soups and salads...you'll be OK.

They always have a filet mignon on the menu and its a hit with finicky eaters. I also really like their beef short ribs. I love their duck too.

GrannyG eating her filet (very conservative eater), Duck is in the foregound - usually a confit leg and a grilled breast

This is my favorite restaurant on STJ.

I'm not a very adventurous eater -- and I don't eat seafood, either. Still, there were always one or two choices on the menu to choose from. I enjoyed the appetizers and salads more than the entrees, actually, so you could probably pick a few of those and be satisfied. I must admit, everyone else seems to enjoy this restaurant more than me, probably because I refuse to try anything exotic! You can always take a look at the menu before you decide to eat there -- they usually have a copy at the door or at the bar.
