What does Scotland look like - short TR and pics!

Went for a week long trip to Scotland. Arrived in Edinburgh after a 2 hour long flight, and picked up the rented car. Drove about 1000 miles in total during the week and stayed mostly at B&B:s. Scottish weather is just hm...scottish. Thought that if Sweden has sunny and 86F why wouldn't Scotland also have that. OK, they don't. It doesn't get hot in Scotland. We had 2 days with sun and the rest mixed. Now I know for a fact, that we have much warmer summers and much colder winters, than Scotland. Their climate is wonderful for gardening. Just about everything grows, even palm trees (that is unfair  ).

Anyway, Scotland is a beautiful country, with lots of landscapes to admire, both mountains, hills and some low lands. Lots of coastline, sometimes with high cliffs but also with sandy beaches. Big difference between the tides. Not so pretty when the tide is low.

If you like castles and gardens, golf, whisky destilleries, walks in the woods or mountains, small cozy pubs, villages etc Scotland is for you. We did not play golf, as husband has problems with a tennis elbow. Would have been great otherwise. I am not that impressed by their food, but it's easier to find food in larger villages or towns, than on the country side. A local village pub, mostly serves chips (fries) to everything.

Here are some pictures:

Having come back from Ireland about a month ago our friends always ask us how the weather was. My standard answer is that "you don't go to Ireland for the weather'.

I know...been to Ireland five times and Scotland twice before, but the whole Scandinavian peninsula had such a great weather when we left (and during the whole week) so I hoped it would have affected Scotland also. We usually get the low pressures from the British Islands so I thought maybe there is no low pressure. But I was wrong. Anyway, we didn't go there for the weather 8) .

Maggy!

Your photos are just wonderful. Just as I imagine that Scotland will be. But even though you don’t go to Scotland because of the weather, it must have been a little frustrating to know what wonderful weather we had in Scandinavia in the same week. A summer day in Scandinavia with sunshine is on my top ten list! :D :D But I would love to go to Scotland too.

Don't remind me   :D
It was so typical, that we went just that week. But how can you know in advance? Since we came home, it has done nothing but rained. 35 inches (80mm) this week. And back to work on Monday!

Well, only 2,5 months until STJ :D
