Of the 3 ways to get to Salomon (starting near the NPS visitors' center, starting from near the entry sign to the National Park, or from Caneel), which is the least strenuous?

We have done two of the three ways and I'm wondering which is the least strenuous.

I vote for parking at Caneel, walking to Honeymoon, and swimming around the point to Solomon.

A few weeks before our last trip I had broken my ankle, so hiking in any form was a big no-no. But I was dying to see Salomon. We rented a dinghy for a 1/2 day and took it from Cruz Bay. Great idea if you're up for it! And the least strenuous of all.

liamsaunt's approach probably burns the least calories. It also allows you to pack in the most cold frosty beverages and setup a base camp on Honeymoon Bay. It's close enough to the Caneel Parking lot that Kellyana can say "Brad honey, we've got to have more beer. I'm feeling sassy!"

But, the walk along the lower Lindt Point trail from the NPS visitors center is second easiest and is quite flat. Parking at the top of the hill near the NPS sign is a shorter walk, but has a 250 foot change in elevation that can create an annoying whine.

We visited Honeymoon and Salomon via Dinghy and it was great. At Honeymoon you can anchor the dinghy very close to the beach and walk in.

We had gotten in the habit of setting up camp at Honeymoon and snorkeling to Salomon, but we prefer the opposite. When we were there in June we saw people coming from the direction of the visitors’ center and wondered if it was less strenuous than starting at the NPS sign. The 250 feet decline isn’t so bad on the way down, but the walk back up after a long day at the beach is a bit miserable.

Having done all three hikes my preference is parking at Caneel and hiking to Salomon from there. Second choice is parking at the top of the hill by the National Park sign but the hike up isn't too much fun.

Diana, what is it that makes the hike from the NPS visitors' center third place for you?

I guess because it's the longest one. It's actually a pretty easy hike as it's mostly flat but walking back into town from the beach can be very hot so I guess that's another reason to make it number 3.

Being carried would be my very first choice (if only I could find a couple of litter carriers as in the days of the Roman Age). I can see myself lying on a litter/cot with my cooler and a book being carried to my beach of choice. Yup, that's my first choice.

That hike back up the Lindpoint Trail is rough after a day of beers and sun at Salomon.I vote for parking at Caneel Resort or the dinghy weve done all three.
