St. John Trip Report Day 6: Thurs. June 5
Toddler was up at 5:40 this morning. We had tentatively planned to go over to Salt Pond today so Grandma could see some turtles (they are her favorite animals). But she wasn't too into the snorkeling and we had seen a lot of the same type of thing at Waterlemon the day before. Plus we didn't look forward to keeping Toddler awake on the drive back or carrying him down the path.
So, we headed back to Trunk, since we all enjoyed it the first go-round. There were still no cruise ships in this day, but the beach was a lot busier than it had been on Sunday. We saw a lot of stuff snorkeling in the morning - 2 turtles, yellowtails, a school of jacks, big parrotfish, frye, etc.
We took a sandcastle-building break, then on our second snorkel foray we saw a huge tarpon, numerous trumpetfish, another turtle, a big trunk fish, etc. It was getting kind of wavy, so we went back to the beach and played with Toddler, who was having a ball in the water. This was a big switch from the first day, when he would only go in the water if we held him. An ocean-lover in the making!
We left about 11:30, stopped to pick up sandwiches at Deli Grotto, ate lunch and napped. In the afternoon was the usual relaxing pool time with this lovely view.

The cheeky bird in residence tried to gain access to Toddler's goldfish stash.

Even though our 10-year wedding anniversary was on June 6, we celebrated it June 5 because we figured we'd be packing, etc. the night before we left. So Husband and I got cleaned up and headed to Zozo's (at Gallow's point) for dinner at 6 pm.
We had a reservation on the railing and were one of the first diners there. The service was very friendly and attentive. We started with apps - calamari and orange salad. Then Husband had the swordfish special with polenta and greens. I had pistachio-crusted mahi mahi with hushpuppies, greens and red pepper. It was all very good and cooked more traditionally. Dessert was fantastic - chocolate torte with vanilla ice cream.
We had a lovely view from our table, but once again there wasn't much color to the sunset. Just our luck! Here's the sunset from our villa (courtesy of Grandma).

After dinner we went into the nearby gift shop, EveryTing, and bought a few souvenirs - very friendly service. Then we went into town and picked up some more things, including some mother-of-pearl silver jewelry with petroglyphs for me at Into the Blue. I really liked their modern-looking pieces.
Here's a night shot from the villa (to complete the day-to-night time lapse in the same spot).
