Looking for donkeys in all the wrong places

Last year we drove around the island and saw a glimpse of a donkey but that was it. I was just wondering if anyone knows where the best place to find wild donkeys on St John and can you feed them or is it best just to leave them alone? Thanks, Heckstar

You will find LOTS of donkeys out on East End past Vi's Snack Shack by Haulover. If you stop your car, they'll come right up to your car and stick their head in the window. I don't think it's a good idea to feed them as they are probably not too polite when you run out of food.

We usually see them laying on the beach at Salt Pond.

There are some who hang around Cinnamon and we frequently see a few who hang around the ball park at Coral Bay.

I saw them everyday on Coral Bay side. There were two of them at our villa every evening and a few hanging around Love City Mini Mart in Coral Bay - (trying my luck at posting pics, haven't figured it out yet)

I think that is so cool that St John has wild donkeys! I do plan on going to Salt Pond to snorkel. Looking forward in laying out on the beach w/ some Democrats, hopefully they don't bite

There are so many wild creatures on STJ, they should re-name the island "Where The Wild Things Are!"
I loved all the pigs, goats, donkeys, cows, iguanas, geckos, etc.

We always see them by Leinster and Waterlemon and have seen them at Cinnamon, Maho, Salt Pond, Francis, along the road in East End and Coral Bay as well as on the road in Upper Carolina.
I have never seen them on the Cruz Bay side, but that doesn't mean that they are not over there.
We also always seem to see the cows and pigs on Centerline (10) and the Gifft Hill Road.

heck,
you won't find many democrats on stj beaches. they are all busy trying to figure out how to tax the republicans who will spend their hard earned money going to stj and the high income democrats who spend theirs on electing more democrats. if obama keeps up his campaign promises re raising taxes on rich ( single over $100,000), there will be some party changes because folks are beginning to realize, 10% of the people can't pull the wagon for the whole country.

Please, don't feed the donkeys. They are quite good at finding their own meals. Hand feeding them is fun, until they get accustomed to hand-outs. When they start getting pushing about treats, they really aren't so cute anymore. A pushy donkey that weighs 400 pounds can actually become rather dangerous.
A few years ago, some donkeys that became too aggressive had to be "removed". It's better to just let them alone and admire them from a distance.

Heckstar - Just remember that donkeys can kick real good - and sometimes for no apparent reason. Wouldn't want to end your vacay prematurely.....
And papabou - maybe if George hadn't given his rich friends a trillion dollar tax cut 6 years ago, we wouldn't have a trillion dollar deficit now. And maybe we'd be able to fix the nation's infrastructure instead of letting our bridges fall down. Jenrale

I'm sure there is a political forum you can post comments like these on.
