Hello, again!
I spent quite a while last night trying to post pictures because we have some great ones, but as hard as I try to be techy; it is just NOT happening! So onward with words........
The girls wanted to share their favorite beaches with the guys! So our first day was Honeymoon, Maura's favorite (and will be forever....more to come on that!). We usually hike down but decided to park at Caneel; the parking attendants were very friendly! It was still quite a hike over, but we were rewarded by the huge "AAAHHHH" from the guys. Jim and the girls have been snorkling forever, Tyler had snorkled, but Chris had never snorkled. He LOVED it! (We had stopped at LowKey to rent equipment and very, very, very satisfied with the quality and price!). Within hours we were calling him "Jacques Christopher". My husband was in 7th Heaven having all if these people to snorkle with. I am a beach person; I LOVE to sit and read and watch people and sit and look at the sky and enjoy watching the family snorkle! We had packed snadwiches and beers. We had a perfect day! Went back to the villa, had fun in the pool and sent the guys for Joe's. (See what I mean about these two guys...they were great!) Beers, gin and tonics and rum mixtures under the stars! Every night I would say, "This was perfect, it can not get any better", but every day it did!
Friday we hiked out to Waterlemon. Again, in years past NO ONE was ever in the parking lot or on the hike or beach; this year we had to park on the road! Since I am not the snorkling kind, I really don't remember exactly what they saw, but I saw a turtle from the beach! They were not disappointed; they were out for a long time! Hiked back. The doors on our jeep would not open and Tyler had to climb through the back to open it. (When I had to climb through the back, I said it was time to take the jeep back which we did. It was replaced by a newer one with much better brakes! However, when we were returning new one at end of vacation, people were returning our old one for same problem!). Decided to show the guys Skinny Legs for lunch...WOW! Fabulous rasperrry drinks, beers, painkillers, and sandwiches. Service was fabulous! They LOVED it (as we always do!). Now to younger daughter's favorite beach, Cinnamon! Found a great spot and relaxed. More snorkling for everyone else! Stayed late..my favorite time on beach! Villa, swim, happy hour and tonight the guys put fish (from Fish Trap Market) on the grill. FABULoUS!!!!!!!! (Don't you love these guys?????). The girls cleaned up...do you see why I kept saying ,"This is perfect!"?
Saturday...Jim's favorite, Jumbie. Got there early for two spaces..hurrah! Again..snorkling, relaxing, sandwiches, beers, snorkling, relaxing!
Now...here is the life altering evening! Tyler had asked us a few weeks ago if he could ask Maura to marry him while we were on vacation! Of course, we said, "Yes". It was extremely difficult for me to keep this secret. Saturday night Tyler suggested we have "Couples Night" and we all go our own way! Great thinking. He took M to Honeymoon Beach (her favorite, remember) and proposed!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were all waiting at the villa for them to return to see her ring! WOW! Dad had chilled champagne as Kathleen and I decorated with some things we brought! We cried and toasted and hugged and watched her call all of her friends. Tyler had reserved a room a Caneel for the night, but by the time they returned at about 9:15 bar and dining room were closed so they celebrated on their patio with a bottle of wine they had picked up on the way! Chris and K went to ZoZos for dinner and LOVED it...especailly the service! Jim and I only found the Fish Trap open. Food was great, service a bit wacky! What a memory.
Sunday was to be my favorite beach,Trunk (yes, remember I love to people watch) and I felt the guys needed to expereince Trunk. But..NO PARKING anywhere..when did St. john become so popular????? So we ended up in Francis...another perfect choice and perfect day. M and Tyker had stopped at Grotto Deli for sandwiches...we are now addicted..no more Jim Beach sandwiches for us! We had to leave beach a bit early (although we didn't!) for the Sunday Beach Bar Jazz. Looked around for forum people, saw some people in a semi-cirlce so I decided to try....Greyhoundmom, her family, and Rhonda and her husband were there! Meeting us were our friends, Barbara and Geroge from home, and our family! It was fun to chat about St. John and all of our adventrues. Jim ran into Snorlklequeen and princess at the bar! WOW! That was very exciting! (When I was leaving on Wednesday and went into St. John Spice, Ruth told me she was there and more forumites were there! WOW! Wish we had connected :( Only downer of trip!) The kids had been teasing me about all of my "Forum" advice, but they had fun at the Beach Bar gathering! We stayed for Beach Bar food for dinner. Music was great, and it was a gorgeous sunset!
Next installment...day sail, my birthday, ending thoughts!

A St. John proposal, how exciting and special. A STJ wedding and/or honeymoon?

Boy, I guess I hit pretty close to home with the future relative comment!

cosmolady - dang - you brought tears to my eyes when I read the proposal part...so beautiful. Maybe they'll do a destination wedding and get married on STJ

Loving the story!

p.s. last time I was there, I thought STJ was much more crowded than in the past...I have never seen so many people at Maho in all my trips combined as last time.

What a great story! Thanks for sharing.

Where on the web are you hosting your photos? Maybe one of us could give you a hand with advice on getting them into your report.

liamsaunt...Thank you for the kind offer. I took our pictures to local camera store, sat in their digital lounge and player with pics. I made a cd of them. Came home and put them on computer to make cds for the girls. Then I read about Picasa on the forum so I uploaded (?) them to that. I played with that for awhile and that I where I am. What do you think????
Any help would be appreciated!
