Just curious...Woody's question

back in the day, Woody's let patrons pour their own drinks. So you could make it as strong as you want. It was something that made them unique. I'm not sure if they have sophisticated things over the years or not. I'm sure someone on this board can tell me if they still do this.
It's been a long time. If I remember correctly, Woody's actually opened while I was living there or shortly before. Does anyone know what year they were established?
A little STJ trivia.....

No, they don't allow pour your own anymore. Not sure if this changed when the twins brought it in 2000. Larry's Late Night has pour your own now - fun!

Woody's was not a pour your own when I got on island in 1995. Maybe before?

Larry's was always the pour your own and has been, I think, since it opened.

I never got to pour my own drinks, but Chad and Todd do need to make money, so that could explain it!

How long has Woody's been there anybody know? That's our favorite hangout when we are on the island. Did Chad and Todd's parents start the bar?

Chad and Todd bought it from Woody (his name was Todd, too, I think) when he and his wife left island, but I don't think that he was the original Woody, and Todd worked for him.
This is going back to 95, not sure about before that.

A little OT...

But Gertrude's on Jost was still pour your own when I was there two years ago.

I like to play a little game I invented called "Get Gertrude to Smile". If you know Gertrude then you know this is not an easy game to play. However, if you "win" and it is not particularly busy, she will usually leave the rum bottle on the bar so you can "top off" your painkiller when it gets low.

Kevin,

Funny that you mention Gertrude. We stopped in there last week while on Jost and I had one of the "Pinky's Passion" drinks. She grabbed the 5 or 6 bottles involved and started pouring. It was a tasty drink and my buddy decided he wanted one too.

Buddy: "I hate to do this ma'am, but I would like one of those Pinky's Passions too."

Gertrude: "here, you pour it"

Buddy: "I dont know how"

Gertrude: "Well you should have watched" ...grabbed her roti and walked away.

Me to buddy: "Quit being a "girl" and give me the bottles!"

I "think" I saw a little smirked from Gertrude then. My concoction actually came out pretty close to hers. It tastes a fair bit like red kool-aid.

It looked like making her smile could be a challenge. I do love all of those little hole in the wall bars on Jost though. Each one has its own little character.

Sleehog -

Nice to see things have not changed. I'll be paying Gertrude a visit on day trip to Jost in a few weeks.
