Auto Insurance Company

Our auto insurance is with State Farm. I called yesterday and they said they don't provide coverage on rentals in the USVI. I remembered faxing it over last summer to STJohn Car Rentals. This year we're renting through Conrad Sutton. The $1500 collision deductible scares me! Has anyone else had this no USVI coverage issue with their insurance company?

I went through this with them. Call your State Farm agent and telling them that you are going to a US Territory. State Farm DOES cover the US Virgin Islands. I bring my policy with me (not a statement, the thick policy that comes with your renewal).

Thanks, Rick! I just called my agent again who, in turn, called her underwriter who called someone else (you get the picture). She called back to apologize for the "bad" information and said to take an up-to-date insurance card showing coverage. Wow, you'd think they'd know USVI is a US territory?!

Also, thank you forum friends for the past 9 months of good advice and fun reading! We leave tomorrow at 3:00 a.m. for Myrtle Beach for 8:10 Spirit flight to Lauderdale, then STT. Will write trip report in 2 weeks :D

Most credit cards provide protection when you use them on a car rental.

A friend of mine totalled a rental car and American Express paid for it :)
