These are two beaches that I have not visited and I want to make sure I see them on the next go 'round. Can someone give me directions (staying in Skytop/Fish Bay area)with landmarks, etc. that I can look for along the way?

Thanks.

For Jumbie when you see a parking lot that holds four cars on the right side of the road after Easter Rock (the big bolder on your left on the side of the road), park and walk just a bit and you will see the wooden steps on the beach side of the road.

If you want to get fancy, you can snorkel the left side of Trunk along till you get to Jumbie or you can snorkel around the right side of Hawksnest (both if you are facing the water) to Gibney/Oppenheimer). The latter is how we always do Gibney. We have never parked by the gate and gone in that way.

p.s. sometimes the water can be rough at Jumbie

The new wooden stairs at Jumbie are a dead give-away (not sure how new, but they are there now...). The wooden stairs can been seen going down the hill from North Shore road towards the beach...it's pretty obvious if you're looking for them.

Can you park outside of the gate at Gibney or do you have to walk from Hawksnest?

if there's room you can park outside the gate.

Great picture of the gate Mary Beth. I have never thought to take one there. Doh! If there is parking there, DH and I will stop and go no matter how often we've gone that week or where else we planned to go. We just love that beach.

Toes in the sand - just a heads up, I am pretty sure there is no trail from Hawksnest.

We don't hang out on the beach at Gibney as much as snorkel the reef and both sides of it so we just swim right around the point from Hawksnest.

I hope I didn't confuse anyone

Gibney is frequently our first and always our last and frequently in between beach stops while on St. John. It has it all: a perfectly beautiful Caribbean beach. Heck! I even got stung by something in the sand there in March which made my foot swell up and ache but I STILL managed to hobble up, down, up, down, up a few times to get to/fro Gibney (of course, the ice-cold Red Stripes helped, too).
