While checking Cape Air's website for baggage information, I ran across a link for a send-ahead luggage service - the "travel without the baggage hassle" type of thing.

Out of curiousity, I requested a quote to ship two suitcases from the Northeast to Cruz Bay, weekday deliver and pick-up, the slowest (and cheapest) option.

The cost was $1300, which is about $300 more than our plane tickets! Needless to say, I won't be exploring this option.

Wow, I can't imagine ever paying a service fee like that. I'll haul my own luggage any day!

Oh my God! Are you sure there wasn't a decimal point between the '3' and '0'?? I'd hate to have our luggage fly first class while we're jammed into 'cattle class'!

Yes, I've checked it out myself too. It is way too expensive and I can't imagine using that service. Ouch!!

Remember, that was $1300 in Virgin Island dollars.
