Gang, Sweet Christine and I are headed to the National Homebrewers Conference in Cinncinati next week. Any tips on not to be missed restaurants and beer attractions? We'll be headed to Bourbon land on Wednesday.

Cheers, RickG

LOL! I have suggestions for Kentucky eats and drinks, but we don't get to Cincinnati much. Hope you enjoy your trip, though. If you're anywhere near Frankfort, give us a yell and we'll treat you to some fine bourbon tasting. :)

Hi Rick Makers Mark was alot better tour then Jim Beam. Makers Mark took you right in and you got to be more hands on. Jim beam was self guided and you didn't get into any real working buildings.

Rick-you might want to try the Montgomery Inn in Cincy for dinner. They have some of the best ribs on the planet.

There are two upscale restaurants which are very good, Maisonette and The Celestial.

Send liver pills.

RickG,
Which distillery or distilleries are you going to? Have you considered Woodford Reserve in Versailles. www.woodfordreserve.com It's my husband's favorite. He enjoys the tour, the scenery, and he loves their bourbon.

Rick,

Welcome to my town! You do realize that the Hofbrauhaus is technically in Kentucky, right? It's really just "downtown south". :)

Can't help you with your beer selection, but I've seen many a friend sample the light, the dark, the seasonal, the classic, and then start in with the Jagermeister (sp?). Food at the Hofbrauhaus is iffy. Although some sauerkraut balls might be good to soak up some of the excess alcohol. It's supposed to be beautiful here today--mid 70's and sunny, so the outdoor beer garden should be really pleasant this evening. If you dine elsewhere, I can recommend Knotty Pine on the Bayou (cajun alligator, frog legs, etc) or Greenup Cafe (French) on the Kentucky side. If you come back into the city, Nada (contemporary, high-quality Mexican)and Via Vite (trattoria)are two great new places downtown. All are upscale casual.

Enjoy your stay! I too recommend the Maker's Mark tour in KY.

Thanks for the tips gang!

Dinner last night was Mass Krugs of Helles und zer grosse Schweinhaxe! Das schmeckt!!

We are hitting the 11AM tour at Woodfordes Reserve. Apparently, its a great tour with (ahem) tastings. A lot of the distilleries are in summer shutdown, but Woodfordes will be distillng today.

We are going to hit Lexington for lunch. Marrika's gets good reviews for beers and more German food!

Cheers, RickG

Rick -

Not sure if you'll see this in time or not, but I'm pretty sure Marikka's doesn't open until 5pm. So, unless that tasting tour at Woodford is going to last 6 hours you might need to look for other options. If the tasting tour does last 6 hours, your choice of food at that point is fairly irrelevant! :)

Watch out for sharks if you go downtown. The KBA is meeting there this week. :)
