Shells on STJ

Are there any good beaches to see really cool shells? I don't want to buy them, I just want to see some pretty ones on the shore. I know people steal them, which I understand is illegal on STJ, so I'm hoping we can find one that still has some. We will be snorkeling, but I also want to check them out on the beach.

Thanks!

Melissa

Beautiful shells don't really wash up on the shore the way they do in FLA on St. John. The reefs break them up, or hermit crabs move in and use them as their homes. If you don't mind the shells being weather beaten, you will find shells to look at on many of the South Shore beaches--Great Lameshur, Hart Bay, and Klein Bay come to mind as places I have found bigger shells on shore.

I have heard that there are lots of conch shells piled up on Brown Bay, but have been too lazy to hike out and see for myself.

Dear fellow Cheesehead--there is a beach near Ramshead/Salt Pond that is geat for sightseeing. It is called Drunk Bay Beach and has nothing to do with partying. Look up the history on it and be sure to bring your camera.

If you want shells...visit Anegada...however, it is best just to leave them alone.
