Okay the On St John blog did a funny post on cooler people last week

"The much-maligned, oft-ridiculed St. John visitors who load up coolers full of frozen food and bring them down."

Being that I just purchases a new cooler with wheels and a handle for the trip (I have 3 kids what can I say) how much ridicule do the cab drivers give you when they see the cooler. I'm getting a private cab (via Carefree getaways) a gentleman name Ivan to take us to Red Hook.

Out of the cooler closet

Yo...I be one of them peoples myself. You won't get any heat from the cabbies. On more than one trip people have asked me whats in the cooler as I pulled it off the luggage belt. When I tell them frozen food they say they didn't know you could do that and what a good idea! Go figure. No cooler on this trip next week cause I have three days on St Thomas with the company but the Nov/Dec one will one on the plane....God bless....Bill

Me and my Ginormous soft-sided rolling cooler nod approvingly in your direction.

as Bill said...the cabbies don't seem to acre. More bags = more $$ for them.

I think that we tourists just generally seem so peculiar to the taxi drivers that having a cooler or not isn't significant.

Ivan is who took us to Red Hook last year. Not coincidentally, We were also staying at a Carefree Getaways villa.

He's a nice and interesting guy, and a good driver.

Have fun!

I've done a similar cooler. It's great when you have kids so that you have a hand free to drag a kid along.

No taunting aloud, coolers are cool!

Cheers, RickG
