I heard once that you can't use American Express in USVI? Anyone have any problem using it?

It earns frequent flyer miles for Delta!!

Not sure where you heard that. Many places take Amex, and some don't, just like the states.

I've used mine in StJ and StT with no problem the last 2 times there.

AmEx is the only card we took with us, and found some places did not take it. We also neglected to bring an ATM card, so this could have been a problem if we didn't have enough cash with us. If I remember correctly, we were able to use the card one day at Shipwreck Landing, but not another day (?), and not able to use it at Skinny's or Island Blues. Fortunately, the rum is cheap all over, which is why my memory is not entirely trustworthy on the subject, lol. At any rate, I'd recommend bringing along a second card.

Some places take AmEx, some don't; just like home. We took 2 cards and called both card companies to say we would be using them alot/more than usual while on vacation in the Caribbean. I'd heard of a credit card company temporarily denying authorization because they suspected the unusual/increased activity on the card was because it had been stolen. That would put a damper on things, huh?
Have fun!

Yup...that's excatly what happened to us while in Mexico....we didn't callt he credit cards prior, & they didn't work while there.
So NOW we call them & tell them where we will be & we can even put a limit on the card while on vacation.
I have decided tho NOT to take the American Express. Son't really feel like going thru any hassles while on vacation!

That's really great advice to call your credit card companies and let them know you'll be "spending"!! I didn't do that on my first trip to St. John and when I got home, they were holding payment on a couple of larger purchases until they heard from me.
