Looking at our arrival time, which ferry would you use?
Date:
Monday Dec 19th Arrive STT airport at 4:14...we will have one piece of checked luggage to get from baggage.
Can we make the 5 PM ferry in Red Hook (the ferry only runs on the hour, correct?)
Or should we just wait for the 5:30 from Charlotte Amalie?
Thnx and Now that I'm closer to Wheels Up, I'm sure I'll have even more questions...please forgive.

I would say that at that time of day you will not make the 5:00 Red Hook, not even close if you ask me. Plan on taking the 5:30 CA or 6:00 Red Hook.
Make sure you call ahead to your rental car, many are closed after 6:00

Thnx Xilandgirl - I thought I was on the right track, thanks for the confirmation. We'll play it by ear and see which is best for us after we've landed and get our one piece of luggage.
Oh - I've already let our car rental company know our arrival time. They said they would be there for us.

Hi,
Unless you've hired a private taxi to meet you, you'll end up wherever the taxi guys figure is best. You may land and have your baggage in time for the earlier ferry, but if others are lagging behind, you'll need to wait.
Unlike most US airports, taxi's aren't on a per party basis, but on a maximum capacity basis.
Since it is a Monday, it may not be too busy and you could get lucky, but I think the 5pm would be very close - you'll be surprised at the traffic on St. Thomas.
You'll have a great trip!

jayseadee - I'm confused about: quote "you'll end up wherever the taxi guys figure is best"
What does this mean? Won't I go with one taxi driver if he is going to Red Hook or a diff. taxi drive if he is going to CA ferry?
Can't wait for Christmas in Paradise!!!

What I meant was the taxi dispatcher. I think they decide whether they go to Red Hook or CA depending on time, traffic, etc.
On one trip, I was sure we had plenty of time to get the CA ferry; and I tried to insist on going to CA, but still ended up in a van on its way to Red Hook.
I haven't quite figured out their system.
On this last trip, I repeatedly had to say I wanted to go to Charlotte Amalie ferry dock; only when I added "to catch the FastFerry to Roadtown" did he pay attention.

Ok, I understand now. Thank you for explaining it to me.
