Unicorn or Calypso Del Sol or Palm Hill

I've done a search and found a few things about Unicorn and CdS (Which is how I'll abbreviate that villa from now on). I know some forums members used to stay at Unicorn, it fell into disrepair, so they stopped. Then, last year, the owner's gutted it. It looks nice. Has anyone seen it?
A couple of forum members have stayed at CdS and I've seen a couple of posts from the owners. It seems to get nice reviews, and a few forum members have this villa booked for this coming year.
I've also found Palm Hill, which looks very nice. Any comments on this one?
What I want to know: is villa in good repair, does villa have three equal bedrooms, does villa get enough sun to keep the pool warm (we're in October), are the covered areas shady or does the angle of the sun mean you have full sun all day?

We'll be at CdS in three weeks. I'll be happy to do a villa review when I return. I've seen great reviews and the owners and villa reps have been super nice. I'm really excited about the villa; especially the screened porch and ac throughout.

Check out Villa Ellison through Caribbean Villa - a new villa with three bedrooms for around $3000.

jdw - Ellison looks really nice, but it's just a hair above our price range. Once I add in the extra 5% that CV includes (grrrr), it's almost $1400 per couple. We're trying to keep it closer to $1200 per one friend's requirement. Seems like a small difference, I know, but the extra $200 will pay for their share of the car rental. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've wanted to stay at Palm Hill but its always been booked. It is very new and has an absolutely killer location at the outer tip of Great Cruz Bay.

Yeah Palm Hill looks pretty nice. I need to call DSJ and see if it has "equal" bedrooms. That's been my biggest problem with these 3 bedrooms. Oleander and its sister villa are both really nice, but the third bedroom is a "loft" an is better for kids than a third couple.

Here's some info for Calypso Del Sol... I will try to get the review we have posted today.
"What I want to know:
is villa in good repair,
THE ENTIRE PROPERTY IS EXTREMELY WELL MAINTAINED
does villa have three equal bedrooms,
YES VERY EQUAL, ONE UP AND TWO DOWN
does villa get enough sun to keep the pool warm (we're in October),
OCTOBER WILL BE NICE AND WARM. THE POOL DEPTH RUNS WITH THE HILLSIDE SO THE SHALLOW END RUNS THE LENGTH OF THE POOL. IT'S A NICE BIG DECK WITH A LOT OF SUN.
are the covered areas shady or does the angle of the sun mean you have full sun all day?"
THERE IS SHADE WITH THE DECKS.. AND THE BEDROOMS ALSO HAVE BLACKOUT CURTAINS.
*******
UPDATE: Just posted the review.

We are staying in Palm Hill July 6-13!
DSJ told me it would be perfect for 3 couples... pretty equal bedrooms. 1 of the bedrooms is above the other 2 with a little balcony.
I will definitely do a villa review when we get back. I havent been able to find much info out there on it... but hopefully it is all i hope it is.

We're booked for February and I have to say the owners are professional, personable and very accomodating. We had to tweak our schedule and they were more than happy to help us out. We wanted to book our airfare and they got back to us the same day about our schedule changes.
Christi- I'll look forward to your review.
Sleehog-thanks for posting that review. Sounds great.

We just returned from Unicorn and it is fabulous. The new owners have spared no expense on the renovations.
One bedroom has a king sized bed, the other 2 are queens. Each has a full bath. Although different, each has its own kind of charm. I don't think any of them would disappoint.
The pool area does have some shade closer to the house. Also, you can move the umbrella from the outdoor grilling area over to the table. The pool is not really large and I found the temperature to be very comfortable.
We rented from Viva and, as usual, they go above and beyond. Highly recommended!
Feel free to email me with any questions.
