I remember seeing a post about ideas to entertain a bored 14 yr old but I can't find it now. I remember that RickG had some good ideas and I was going to print them off - but again I can't find it - can anyone help me out. I tried searching but have had no luck. Thanks,

Depending when you come down... what about the Friends of the National Park Volunteer program. They meet Tues and Thurs at 8am [Nov - April]. Help with trail clearing, ruins exposure, etc.

Might work... or at the very least might tire him out enough to enjoy being bored.

I can't imagine feeling bored on vacation. When I was that age I never felt bored being on a beach, soaking up the sun, swimming, hiking, exploring. Everyone is different though. I love the outdoors.

Find a 14-year old of the opposite sex. This will help with the boredom but may raise other concerns.

If this plan isn't feasible, I suggest planning at least one major "activity" per day, other than lying on the beach---a hike to Ram's Head, Salomon, or Denis Bay, taking a dinghy out along the north shore, kayaking to a specific destination, parasailing, snorkeling Haulover, Salt Pond or Waterlemon.

Hah Iowaguy, too funny. I was thinking along similar lines but decided alternatively to maybe offer a suggestion of hitting the Westin for the trampoline, rock climb and other watersports they offer. Ali~

My kids are actually 16 and 20 and I don't expect them to be bored but there were a lot of good ideas on the previous posting and I was just having trouble finding it. Thanks again for all the suggestions. We are taking a day sail and we are going to rent a dinghy - thanks again for the other ideas.

I suggest Maho Bay Camps Glass Blowing Class. Our two 15 year olds loved this experience last summer. Go one night and experience sitting in a hot studio, blasting music and watching wine and beer bottles turn into great sea turtles, octupus (I requested the very first one made last summer!), wine glasses, huge bowls, beautiful colors. These guys are so talented. My girls loved the hour and a half class and came home with paper weight, stamped window glas hanger, starfish, rose. They loved the whole experience. Last year it was $65.00 per person and lots of hands on - they were the only two in the class at that time.
