Overnight in St Thomas

We've got a long travel day booked and sadly, couldn't get into St Thomas until 9:00pm. Just wondering if anyone had suggestions for a decent place to overnightin ST Thomas before heading to STJ in the morning that is easy to get to from the airport - I'm guessing we're going to be pretty beat. Would love to be waking up in STJ when we arrive but it's not in the cards.

I would give Ronnie a call at the Crystal Palace and if he can't help maybe try the other link to a B&B - I haven't seen it but it does get great reviews :)

Don't forget you can easily make the ferry to STJ the night you arrive should you wish to do so - you might make the 10pm if you have carry on only but the 11pm for sure :)

My sister has an early flight out of STT so she is staying one night at the BW Emerald Beach. I've read mixed reviews but the price is right and its only one night. Just a suggestion.

We love staying with Ronnie at Crystal Palace. They will pick you up at the airport and the first drink at the honor bar is free. They have a great view from the veranda and the rooms are large and comfortable.

Cheers, RickG

Again, thanks for your infinite wisdom. I didn't think the ferries ran that late! What time would that put us in Cruz bay if we decided to go that route? I think it might be worth pushing our wee one for what I hear is the worthwhile pleasure of waking up on the island.

We are staying a couple of nights in St Thomas before heading over to St John. We fly in the 4th of July and didnt think it would be a good idea to have a travel day combined with the carnival to try to get to STJ. So we built in a couple of extra days on STT before going to Palm Hill Vill for a week :)

Anyhoo... we are staying at Green Iguana for the 2 nights. It has good reviews so we will see how it works out. I really wanted to do Mafolie but it was booked up for the 4th. Another couple in our group is staying at the Island View Guesthouse for 1 night prior to going over to STJ.

My choices in order (just my opinion from reading reviews and websites) were :

1. Mafolie for the location, view, relatively cheap and free taxi to town and Magens Bay.
2. Green Iguana for location and pretty dadgum cheap. It has gotten really good reviews from people that are 1 or 2 nighters.
2a. Crystal Palace for location and Ronnie being a forum contributor.

If we had a house reserved for the first day on STJ - but would be getting there late - I would still go over to STJ. Even if it meant getting there at midnight.

Thanks all, I think I'm going with Green Iguana. Crystal Palace looks awesome but it also looks like a place where a toddler could do some serious damage.
I had no idea that we were arriving at the tail end of carnivale.

The Green Iguana is great. We stayed the first night there last year and will be doing that again this year. VERY clean, quirky/unique, nice people. You'll like it.

Be aware that there are a number of steps, though, which might be an issue for your toddler (whether that means you'll be spending your time chasing or will have to shuffle bags in shifts to carry the munchkin I don't know).

OH, the front door is really weird (at least to this born-and-raised Midwesterner). There is (or was last year) a combination lock on it, you have to push the right buttons to open it, then it locks behind you after. Great for security, but a little off-putting if you're not used to it. Once inside, and considering your late arrival, proceed down the hall into the garden, down and to your right is the "office".

I think the Crystal Palace is fine for a toddler, excepting the stairs (Ronnie?). The stairs down to the bedrooms are curved and need a little bit of care. My daughters loved the Crystal Palace and its our go to place on STT now.
