What would you do?

Hi, we are scheduled to stay at Hale Lani in November. A forumite left a less than glowing review a few weeks ago citing poor lighting to the lower level bedrooms and a dirty pool. I wrote the rental agency with my concerns but they haven't responded! I am traveling with my Mother and her sister who will be staying in the lower bedrooms so it must be well lit. Also, I have two kids so the pool needs to be clean. How would you handle a management that doesn't repond to my questions?
Thanks for your suggestions!

I am assuming that you are using Destination St John? If that is the case, I would just send another email or give them a call. We worked with them last year and they were great. Perhaps they just missed the email because they were very responsive when we had questions.

My recollection is that someone :? on the forum stayed there not all that long ago and absolutely loved it. I've also used DSTJ several times and they have always been wonderful. I agree with X, send another email or give them a call. Ali~

Don't stress over one review. I think Flip Flop stayed there and she had good things to say, maybe she can answer some of your questions.

Flip-Flop & Lulu (where's she been lately) both loved it. I also know of a less than stellar review. Anyway, for the location & the money it was amazing.

The pool was pristine when we stayed (other than a few leaves or flowers falling in from the wind) and even had just been retiled. The downstairs is via a curved stairway off of the parking lot. When we were there it was lit with lights in the ground. We are not talking flood lights but enough light for my 58 year old mother and 5 year old to get back and forth no problem.

The rooms down there don't have the view of the upper two rooms, but they are comfortable and my mom actuallly preferred it down there because it was away from the hubbub. The queen bed was also very comfy. Lots of storage. Clean, new, large bathroom.

I had stayed in the higher end Ambiance before & Hale Lani was not super lux but it definitely had a feeling of warmth and comfort. I felt like I was in someone's true home vs. a rental property. Feel free to pm me if you have more questions or if you want to see my pictures.

My MIL prefers using DSJ for rentals. The properties are always very well taken care of and they are very responsive.

Try calling cuz email is sometimes very spotty on island. Also, email is much easier to putoff if the office is busy elsewhere.

Thanks all! I will call them and ask directly. As you all know we spend so much time agonizing about choosing the right house and dreaming about St John - it really causes a hiccup when you start second guessing based on one review. I just have to remember - it's St John so it can't be bad!
