can someone enlighten me on this thing? I know it has been discussed before but either A. I don't feel like looking for it or B. I didn't understand what was being said. You pick one :)

Here's my question. Don't you have to have some sort of data plan when you have the iPhone? for some reason I am thinking that is an additional $50/month. Is that right?
Our cell phone bill is already insane in my opinion, Charlie carries an unlimited plan on his phone (AT&T but not the iPhone).
While I like the idea of the iPhone and I know all the cool kids have it (Vicki) I won't use the data all that much unless I'm away from home for an extended period of time.

Can someone educate me in laymens terms on what is required for the iPhone.
Thanks!

A minimum data plan is required for the iPhone you are correct. The billing breakdowns are IMPOSSIBLE to figure out I have found, but I don't think its $50. I think it might be $35.

That said, we went from:

VERIZON - $100/month
3 phones none with a dataplan (we paid per use)
unlimited verizon to verizon calling

to

AT&T - $150/month
3 phones, 2 with unlimited dataplans and one with no data for my mama
All ATT mobile to mobile is free
automatic rollover of your extra minutes

If you decide to do it let me know I can recommend a friend and we'll both get $25 att cards that you can use to pay your bill :)

For us, its basically like we each are paying $25/month for unlimited data. It would have probably cost us that to add it to our Verizon phones. The upfront cost of the iPhone was the only killer! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my iPhone. I was an ipod addict before and having my phone, ipod, contacts (syncs w/ MS Outlook), calendar (also syncs with MS easily) and an ok camera in one device is worth every penny. It is so much easier for me to keep track of!

how many minutes do you have on your ATT plans?

700 shared. We call each other ALL the time and that doesn't count towards the balance. I am not a huge phone chatter, so we always roll over at least 200-300 a month :) But its the min we could get for 3 phones.

I forgot to add that I have it synced with both my work account and my personal email account and I can get email on the fly, which I love!

The only drawback I have is that the little sucker is slippery as hell. But durable. Learned that when I flung it right over my shoulder one day accidentally. I recommend a good case!

Also, the browser isn't super warp speed fast, but I don't surf on it much. The newer version (possibly out already or coming soon) are supposedly faster.

It is a very intuitive device. I have had many other gadgets and none has been as easy to figure out as the iphone.

I wanted the iphone but I decided I was too cheap. I have ATT and I just got the BlackJack II, it added an extra $35 dollars to my plan for the PDA plan, unlimited internet and data.

I love it so far. I have it set for 2 emails, AOL instant messenger. I have this forum and another web board set as my favorites so I can access it anywhere. The browser is pretty fast since it is 3G.

My hubby has the blackjack and LOVES it. Always makes fun of me and my iPhone. Though I do catch him playing with it from time to time. HANDS OFF MR! :)

MB - I'll send the email your way.
