When get Restaurant Rezs?

So, how far in advance do I need to plan to get restaurant reservations? We will be there 3rd week in June.
And, while we are on the topic...any restaurant recommendations?

June is a little slower so I'd think a couple of weeks would be fine. For zozo's I think we called 6 weeks ahead.

We always go to STJ in June/July/August and have never made a restaurant reservation and have never had any problems. I don't think we've ever waited more than 10 minutes for a table. The only place we ever thought we’d make a reservation was for Chateau Bordeaux, but somehow we’ve never made it there.
We usually have a party of 2, but one trip we had 4 or 5 people and were still fine without reservations.
If I had a big group I'd call a day or two in advance.

Our group of 9 was unable to get a reservation at any of the restaurants we tried on Friday night (started trying around noon). Paradiso, Ocean Grill, Waterfront Bistro, La Tapas - all booked. Or maybe our reputation preceded us!
But, I think a smaller group would have had no problem.
