Day Four – Trunk Bay and ZoZo’s
Posted: Tue May 06, 2008 8:55 pm
The troops start waking and going through our morning routine.
Coffee on the deck, plug in the Ipod, chase Bruce the Evil Chicken away, take a dip in the pool and/or hot tub.

We are all feeling really well rested after our relatively early night. This may be a dangerous thing
Someone had the great idea to have a beer in our pajamas and we all hopped right on board !
We decide to take the newbies to Trunk Bay (always our traditional first stop). After having a great ham and cheese scramble and breakfast potatoes, we (and by we, I mean Tom the Cabana Boy
) load up the cooler, load up the beach chairs and head out. Can’t pass by the overlook without stopping for a picture.

The surf at Trunk was about as rough as I have ever seen it. We found a great spot in the shade and had a fabulous afternoon.

Met Richard the lifeguard, who grew up on St. John and drives a cab at night. Really nice guy.

We have dinner reservations at Zozo’s at 6:00, so we head out around 3:45 and decide we have just enough time for … that’s right, Happy Hour at Woody’s!!

We head back to the dinner and get cleaned up and arrive at Zozo’s in time to have cocktails at the bar with a lovely sunset as our view.

We head down to our table and all enjoy the bruschetta of the day (sausage, spinach, cheese – yummy). I apologize for the lack of food porn photos; we were all just too busy eating!! Cousin Laurie had the calamari appetizer with garlic aioli and everyone LOVED it. As is our tradition, most of our group had the Osso Bucco, while my brother had the Veal Chop (which I tasted, it was out of this world tender), his fiance had the Rack of Lamb which I also tasted (yummmmy) and several people had the fish. Since I don’t eat seafood I can’t tell you what it was, I can only say that EVERYONE was a member of the clean plate club.

It was my Cousin Lisa’s birthday in a few days, so I asked the waitress to bring a molten lava cake for her. Unbeknownst to me, my brother had ordered a “round robin” of desserts. So after the candle and the Happy Birthday singing, the waiters brought over 9 more desserts and we all had spoons ready. Yup, take a bite and pass it on. We were in dessert HEAVEN. Tiramisu, chocolate mousse, some sort of berry parfait and several molten lava cakes later, we were all happy as larks. This was such a fun way to taste several desserts, with lots of jibes about “hey, stop hogging that” and “pass that cake”. Since we all grew up with at least six siblings, this felt like A TRUE family dinner

What to do after such a fabulous dinner with such great company … Woodys! We score the outside table and have a few drinks, lots of laughs and sing a few songs.

Back to Vistaero, we take advantage of the outdoor bar and Laurie’s fabulous Ipod while we gaze at the gorgeous stars and the lights of St. Croix in the distance.

Another perfect day!
