Hi Everyone!
We've got just three weeks until we arrive in paradise! Hey, I have a question about buying liquor. We get off our plane at 2:00pm (we will have carry on luggage only) We will be headed to the Charlotte Amalie ferry (hopefully, the 3:00pm one) If we have time, is there a shop right by the ferry dock one of us can run in quick and get some liquor? Otherwise, are the prices pretty comparable in St.John to St.Thomas liquor stores? Also, if I remember correctly, it doesn't take a very long time for the taxi ride to the dock. (about 10 minutes?)
Thanks

Yes, STT is generally somewhat cheaper.

As mentioned the liquor store right in STT airport is decent- my wife usually heads in there while I wait for the bags.

Also A.H. Riise with a large selection is easy walking distance to the CA ferry dock.

Kmart does have the cheapest prices on beer/wine/liquor, but its not the easiest to get to if you are in a cab. Especially getting back to the CA ferry dock. That would require extra time and a second cab, or a nice cab driver to wait for you. I would suggest AH Rise right on the waterfront. They are a couple dollars cheaper on bottle liquor than the shop at the airport. Only time we use the shop at the airport is when we are flying home. Its easy to pick up your well packed bottles and they guarantee they will make it home in one piece. If not all you have to do is call and let them know of any breakage. Thats the reason for an extra couple bucks a bottle at the airport shop...or at least thats how I justify it.

We've started doing our first liqor shopping at the AH Riise airport duty free. Its right next to the luggage claim and they are faster than island time. Plus, they have a couple of brands that we like that are not always in the stores on island. Plus, it fits the taxi/passenger ferry itinerary.

Once on St. John, Pine Peace Market seems to have the best price on Cruzan. Dolphin sometimes has good prices as well.

Rick nailed it. Go to the shop at the airport. They will box it in the carry on boxes so it's easy to carry. Fast and efficient.
