Make a guess: What percentage of STJ regulars post here?

Of regular visitors to STJ (say, those of us who go once a year or more), what percentage of them are members of this forum? 5%? 15%? 50%?
What do you think?
I would qualify it by saying that if at least one member of the vacationing family posts here then that counts. So even though my husband doesn’t post here, since I do, together we’d “count” toward the percentage.
I really have no idea but it would be interesting to know.
What do y’all think?

That's a bit low...I would say 2.1%

There are 1553 members here since 2006 so I'd say less the 1%

This seems appropriate:
"Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital."

I'd say it is pretty darn low. A lot of people lurk and use search without ever registering. We run into lurkers all of the time who know who are the chatterboxes and crazy characters.

That's interesting. So you run into people who "know" you but you don't know Rick?

Must be very low. Think of all the villas owned by visitors who are St. John regulars. Yet, only a few villa owners are regulars on this Board. Think of all the regulars who go to Caneel every year---only a few participate on this board. Lots of Westin timeshare owners who are annual visitors---but not too many on this board.
Anthony---must be a huge marketing opportunity!

I've wondered about villa owners. It seems that so few post here.
I guess the better question is how many regular visitors either post or lurk here?
It seems like this site is very popular, but perhaps it isn't as popular as it seems (no offense Anthony

).

But its far and away the best forum for the VI. Much more entertaining than any other forum.

I don't know how many people would be classified as "regulars", but the USVI does get somewhere around 2 million visitors annually. Most posts on this forum get less than a thousand views and many of those are repeats by the same viewers. In truth, this really is a pretty obscure little internet travel forum.

i agree board posters are small % of stj visitors but i believe you would find that if you limit to the VILLA renters and rentals, the % would be much higher.
in efforts to find that perfect villa, i have looked at info on just about every villa in the rental pools, but no talley of how many. i would guess though there are fewer than 250 villas that are regularly rented and i would be surprised if the overall annual occupany for those villas would be greater than 80% (close to 95% in season and much lower the rest of year).
250 X 52wks X .80 equals only 10400 rental periods per yr divided by an assumed 1.3 wks per poster means 8000 opportunities. divide that into maybe 500 somewhat regular posters and they make up 6.25% of the villa rentals which is OVER SIX TIMES A PREVIOULY SUGGESTED LESS THAN 1%!
in the same vein, a lot of adults have drowned in bodies of water with an average depth of under 3 feet, it was just much deeper where they happened to fall in.
on a more serious note, like iowaguy said this is by far most informative and friendly vi board.
peace,
papabou
ps, i will assume my 250 villas available for rent and 500 regular posters is correct UNLESS someone can list names of all.

All of this is WAAY too technical for me. Personally, I don't care about numbers and percentages like that. I just go to STJ, kick back and enjoy myself, and don't worry about stuff like that

Do residents count as regulars?
