So, we've decided to rent a car for the entire duration of our vacation on St thomas...we had originally planned to rent one for a couple of days. After reading that the taxis charge per person one way......it just doesn't make sense....specially since we'll have to do grocery store runs,e tc.....
Anyhooo......can you park in Red Hook if we go out to dinner and/or Charlotte Amalie?
What's the deal with parking there?

In Red Hook there is parking along the road. In the shopping center near Duffy's and also under the main building at American Yacht Harbor. All of these are free if available. If that doesn't work or you just don't want the hassle the use the pay lot on the hill behind the Marina Market or the Ferry Terminal pay lot. As for Charlotte Amalie it is like any big city, thats actually pretty funny, you drive around until some one leaves. There is considerable parking along the one way road through the parking lots from the Holiday Inn to the Greenhouse and you usually can find something with a little effort.

Make sure in Red Hook you eat at a restaurant where you parked your car. Don't park in one and walk across the street. You will be booted! It's a sad thing but true. Safer parking at Mencia's behind the Marina Market of teh lot by the ferry terminal if you choose to walk around then decide where.
I town there are several parking lots, some paid, some not. Plenty of parking in Frenchtown where lots of restaurants are located.
