A friend of mine wants to plan a diving trip next month...yeah, I know..last minute....anyway - since diving will be his primary focus, can anyone recommend an island that is best for that? I'm sticking to the snorkeling on STJ, so I didn't feel like I could give him an unbiased opinion.

Thanks guys!

It depends on what they're looking for in diving.

Shore dives, drift dives, wreck dives.

Any particular creatures they'd like to see?

How important are topside accomodations and activities?

Some of my favorite dive locations I've been to in the caribbean include the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, Curacao, Cozumel, Roatan, Belize, Dominica, the Mayan Riviera in Mexico, and Barbados.

But they are all quite different.

Liamsaunt mentioned Bonaire. I've never been there, but have been told it's absolutely the best for shore diving.

Turks and Caicos if you like wall diving. I had my first diving experience there, and if I ever will go back, it will be for the diving.

How 'bout the Blue Hole in Belize? Went to Belize this past January and found out I love Beliken beer
Only experienced snorkeling then but have heard lots about the hole.

I agree with Augie though, just depends on...

I wish that I had enough diving experence to tell you that. I have heard how great Bonaire and Turks and Caicos are for scuba diving. I also have heard the the FL Keys are great. I have snorkeled all of those except Bonaire and I thought they were great. And then there is STJ- the best in my opinion, so far.
Oh, but STJ is the only place I have gone scuba diving, other than the pool.
