Anyone in STJ 5/19 - 5/25

My husband & I are planning our first trip to St John 5/19 - 5/25 with a couple of friends. We're seasoned travelers to the Caribbean, but this is our first trip to the Virgin Islands. We are scuba divers and would like to dive a few times, although this will not be a dedicated dive trip. Any divers out there? Any "must dives"? We love just hanging on the beach and beach bars, too. Since this is the off season and we are "newbies" to St John, we are wondering how important it will be to reserve a vehicle, reserve a dingy, make dive reservations, make reservations for a BVI trip, etc. Any suggestions? I've been "lurking" on this forum for awhile. Thanks for all the advise I have already gotten from you guys.

Hi! My hubbie and I will be on STJ May 21-26 and are staying at Gallows. We are looking to share a day charter w/Lion in da Sun to Jost(bar hopping and beach/snorkle). If you're interested, check out their website and let me know. I've been in contact w/Josh. Where is your group staying? Welcome to the Forum :D

You will love St. John! We'll be there the same time as you. My husband loves to dive and has on our last two trips to St. John, but is going to skip diving this trip. He'll be snorkelling all of the time, I'm sure!

If you haven't reserved a vehicle yet, I highly recommend doing that right away. The rest of your reservations aren't quite as important to have ahead of time, but I'd still recommend reserving your dives if you have specific places you want to go with a specific company. Have a great time! I'm counting down the days!

Reserve your vehicle today. You'll miss the best places on STJ if you don't have one. Enjoy!

We are staying at Palm Terrace Villas. Thanks for the invitation! I'll talk to the others and let you know about the day trip. Sounds like a lot of fun, but getting the guys to plan(or reserve anything)has been difficult so far. I'm the "girl scout" who likes to plan & be prepared. :D

My husband and your guys have something in common!! LOL! I like to plan ahead too :D I'm so ready to go!! Yes, you should reserve a jeep if you haven't already. I found a Liberty at Bougainvillea Leasing. Hopefully we will meet you and your group (as well as others from the Forum who will be on-island) at the Beach Bar! Let me know if you decide you want to share a charter to Jost! I've been researching extensively and believe our best bet is to do a power boat to Jost so we have more time on-island there and can pretty much do what you want to do :D Good luck in your planning and STJ trip soon come!! :D :D

acohen, I like powerboats best to Jost - you're right - you get the most time on island. They guys from Lion are great - we used this in February and will book them the same week as you (probably the 20th or 21st if they're available.

We'll be on island the same time - we leave the 24th. Maybe, we'll see each other around!

Nancy,
Would you be interested in sharing a charter w/Lion maybe on the 22 or 23 if available?? That'd be cool!!

acohen, the Lion boat only holds 6 passengers. We have 4 definitely going but maybe, 6 (one couple may not go with us). If that's the case, we would share but only have room for 2 more. How many in your party want to go to the BVIs?

Nancy,
Just hubby and myself would be going. If the other couple w/your party wants to go, maybe we could check into chartering a larger boat. We can't charter by ourselves (too $$$$) and we'd rather go by private boat versus the ferry if possible. Let me know what you think.
