Delta does it again

How many times can an airline change our itinerary? This is the fourth time they changed it and not for the better. Originally we thought we could get on the 2:00pm ferry, now we land at 2:00pm, so we're hoping to get the 3:00pm ferry. Does anyone see a problem catching the 3:00pm ferry with a 2:00pm arrival? We will have checked bags. I can't remember how long it took us to get to Redhook on our first trip.

Yikes! There's plenty of folks here way more experienced than me, but that seems pretty tight if you're going to Red Hook. Last July, we waited for one piece of luggage for at least 20 minutes. By the time we found a taxi, loaded up, got through the traffic, and on the road, it was at least 30 to 45 minutes if not longer. You might make the CA ferry in one hour, though.
I noticed a thread earlier this week about a private taxi (Rachel) that we're going to try in July. Surely that would save you some time.
BTW - When did you book your flight? Just curious.

If the flight's on time, if no delay on the baggage, if traffic's not too bad, you could make the downtown ferry easily. That's a lot of ifs.

On 4/5 we arrived at 2:05 we just made the 4:00 red hook ferry if it wasn't running 10 min. late we wouldn't have made that one. Good luck If you had a private taxi you would have a better chance. We made 3 stops on the way to red hook

About 3 or 4 months ago.

Two hours from the time you landed until getting to Red Hook.

I don't think we're making the 3:00pm ferry.

Jimm-I probably shouldn't post this, because sure as I do we will begin to have flight problems. Do you have availability to US Air? We have been down into that area twice in the last 9 months using USAir through Charlotte and have never been rescheduled as to our flight down. We did have a change this last time on our connecting flight from Charlotte into Cincinnati coming back, but they moved us up from a 4:25 pm departure from San Juan to a 12:25 pm departure which was not all bad.
As for trying to make RH by 3:00 pm on a 2:00 pm arrival, as posted above, that is very iffy. Better shoot for 4:00 pm at RH.

Delta has changed our itinerary 3 times. We arrive at 2:00 now as well and our villa rep told us to catch the 3:00 ferry from town, rather than Red Hook. She didn't think we'd have any chance of making RH.
We arrive in STT a little later now than originally scheduled, and we leave a little later than originally scheduled, so our on-island time is the same. We kinda got screwed on our last leg as we land in DTW at 11:30 pm instead of 9:30 pm. We leave in less than 2 weeks and I'm half expecting Delta to change our itinerary again

17th Hole and Jimm-As I posted above, you can get direct flights to Charlotte (CLT) from Cincinnati (CVG) and then direct flights to STT from CLT on USAir. You leave CVG about 7:00 am and arrive in STT at 1:26+/-. Our experience has been good on US Air.

There's no chance you can do carry-on? We were carry-on only, landed at 2:10 and made the 3pm RH ferry with more than 5 minutes to spare...

Hey Jimm,
On our February trip, we landed at 2:15 PM, was able to snag a taxi to Red Hook, and we must have had an excellent driver, cuz even with a stop to drop off people at one of the resorts, we were able to make the 3:00 ferry from Red Hook, and we got there at 2:55. It was unbelievable. Our villa manager was amazed we got on it! Hopefully for you, you will have the same experiences. Good luck and have a GREAT time!

Hello and welcome to Delta.
Our itinerary changed for the bad, but I think I can change it for the better. (This is all on skymiles, buy the way)
They have us leaving RDU on a 6:00AM flight...sitting in ATL for 3 hours, and not arriving to STT until 3:40. That blows.
However, I can leave here at 6:45, go to EWR, hook up with a non-stop flight on Continental, and be there by 1:40.
Bonus 1: Our friends are on the EWR flight. They don't arrive 2 hours before us and get first choice at villa bedrooms.
Bonus 2: It may cost me 30,000 more miles (I have nearly 200K), but it moves me to 1st class. And, with the return already in 1st class (same # of miles as coach), I am potentially more awesome than I already am.

I'm running off to check my delta flights that leave in 4 weeks. This is the first time we've gone with them and were happy to pay more because of the great times and only one stop from KC. I'm getting worried about what'll change in the next weeks. United has been the best we've found out of KC, but they are only affordable during the summer!

Delta changed our arrival times too. We are now scheduled to arrive at 2:00, as opposed t 1:20 originally. The same thing happened to us last year and we made the 3:00 Red Hook ferry (barely). We did carryon only though.

Hey Jimm,
Don't make yourself crazy. Start unwinding TODAY so when you get here you won't mind taking the 4 pm boat. When you get to Red Hook get a frosty beer or 2 and enjoy the weather.
