I just saw on TV tha other night about all the lsot luggage going on now that we are being forced to check in our luggage!!

They did have some great tips tho...like pack an extra set of clothes in your carry on AND in your mates bag so you won't be stranded on the island with no clothes....and in our case, that would be a frighfull sight!!

Back on Oct. 21st, AA from San Juan to STT, we took only carry on bags so we could go right to the taxi to Red Hook.
Since we were first in line, we had to wait 30 minutes for the checked baggage people to arrive so they could ride in the van with us!!!
Who knew?

We have always packed our carry-ons with what we like to call survival clothes. So no matter what happens to our checked bags, we are good to go for several days.

A typical carry-on would contain:
couple pairs of shorts
few t-shirts
golf shirt
toiletries
few pairs of underwear
bathing suit
snorkel gear

We were going to try and do our entire trip with carry-on only this year, but due to the new restrictions, we are checking one bag.

You can resend me any day!! We arrived on 10/15 at @ 3:10. We did have a vehicle waiting for us in the parking lot, so that helped. When we got to Red Hook we were forced to decide whether to grocery shop or hop on the 4:00 ferry. We opted for the ferry. So I'm guessing it took 10-15 minutes to get the luggage. Our flight was not full so that may have helped. As I recall, hubby grabbed some booze, went and found the truck, and I was curbside with the luggage and we were off. It all depends. Have fun!!

Hello,

We landed Sunday, November 5 - AA from San Juan at around 1pm.

Good News - it only took ~20 minutes to get most of our bags

Bad News - the plane couldn't handle all the luggage for the passengers, so they left some behind and put them on the next flight which arrived at 2pm :(

It was a bit inconvenient but no big deal since our ferry to Tortola didn't leave until 4pm and the Caribs were as cold at the airport as anywhere else. :D

I flew through there on the 8th and left there on the 14th and did not have a problem at all. The only bad thing was that I did not get to make it to St. John, except I went by there one morning about 6 to find a island to work on since I was on a photo shoot.
