American Airlines grounded 1,000 planes today. Was just wondering if anyone on the forum has been affected. I'm flying Delta, but they've changed my flight twice on me already!

We leave next Thurs. and they did a whole thing on the 6:00 news of people being stranded at the airport. We're flying Us Air but I heard other airlines might be affected. We are nervous...So I'm having an extra tall Scotch and Soda to soothe my frazzled nerves!

Nothing to do with STJ, but my daughter had planned a trip for tomorrow to Las Vegas with a bunch of old high school friends. I'd given her miles for her ticket, plus she'd made a deposit of her own hard-earned money for the hotel. Well... her health isn't the greatest, and about a month ago, she said, very reluctantly, "I'm really afraid I'm going to wake up on April 20th, back home, sick and poor." She canceled the trip, got the miles back, her deposit back..

Today, all her friends found out their flight is canceled. They are scrambling, driving to NY to try and catch a flight. AA isn't answering any phones.

My daughter is so so relieved, though she feels bad for her friends of course. She would have had to forfeit all.

We are scheduled to go out on 4/18 on AA. I called and all of the lines were busy. I went on line and it SEEMS to say the flight is still going. Any suggestions on how to confirm it?

Fingers are crossed that Delta doesn't get the itch come Monday morning...

Good Luck to all that have future flights with AA!! That's some crazy stuff going on and I HOPE it's not a sign of things to come with all airlines

I guess it's a good thing that I don't mind a cruise here n' there...just in case. Definately one of the advantages to living in FL, many ports to catch a ship=no airfare/flight.

That's a quote from the above posted article. I fly US Airways to STT in June. My wife heard on the TV US Airways and United haven't been affected, YET. That worries me. Maybe I should get that travel insurance!

Yikes! I might consider travel insurance too.

Mr. Ksea says unless you are flying on one of the MD-80's, you should not be affected. Is that true? Our June flight is on an AA 757.

Ditto Ksea...i would be really dissapointed if this affected us...how does this travel insurance work and where do you get it???

Is a $200 trip insurance premium worth your collectible loss for being a day late? What are you insuring for in this case?

Figures. Just when we're gtting ready to use some of our gabillion Frequent Flier Miles with American Airlines.....!

I think some of the people that had their flights cancelled are going to end up more than a day late to their destinations or returns home. I would have to look at the policy and see if it's worth it.

With three of us going and the cost of the villa it might be worth it.
