I received the DVD from Carefree Getaways yesterday and I was really impressed with this place. Looks absolutely beautiful! And I see they are offering 20% off the rental price right now (until 12/21).
I think that is still over my budget :)

I better rustle up some friends to travel with me so I can stay there.
Anyone around here ever rented this villa?

I had looked at the place recently and my first impression was "Wow, look at all the bare white walls." Is there more than one picture in the video?

Ya, I'm obsessing about what to book next Halloween. I'm going to do some drive-bys to check out villa privacy. No kids next year and no tan lines.

Cheers, RickG

We stayed there last year. I was bad and didn't do a trip report. Bottom line - it is a great villa. We are heading down again and staying there in less than a month. There are only 2 negative comments I can make. The first is the driveway when you come out is on a blind curve. It always make me nervous coming out. The second is that the spa in the center of the pool doesn't really get hot. It appears to be like a built in hot tub but is more like a luke warm bubbling pool. In the winter the pool is too cool for our taste and the spa is barely tolerable after a few drinks.

For the Jorge crowd - this is a pretty private villa for nekkidness. You can see other villas down below and other villas across the bay could possibly see the pool area with binoculars. The pool is completely private from view from above or on either side.

The pictures are acurate and it is a beautiful place. The beds are super comfortable (which is a big deal for me - I hate hard beds) and the villa has everything you could possibly want. Except a hot tub like Bongo!

RickG, the video is like a tour. The entire thing is pretty good for checking out different villas. I think this is a great idea and wish I could get more tours on DVD.
I didn't notice bare walls but of course now you know I am going to go back and look.

What struck me most was the views out between the columns. Reall spectaular and the columns frame the vistas perfectly.

Question for you Rick. How far in advance did you book your air fare this year? If we can make it back next year it will likely be in the Thanksgiving time frame. don't know if it would include the holiday but likely just before or after. Want to avoid "holiday fares" at all costs.

We booked in January. We had been watching when one of those great fares came up - $460 pp. Of course, I could buy a ticket for $425 today for a Saturday departure. The prices ranged from $800 to $460 and back to $800 and back down to $426 today. farecast.com is a good tool for trending airling prices. Average fares for us for this timeframe have been $600.

We like October/November. We don't burn as much (some base tan from the summer), things are not that crowded and low season villa prices!

Hey Mary Beth!
The view is stunning overlooking Ditliff Point and Fish Bay! If you like sunrises this is a great location. We stayed at Beija Flor Villa (seaviewhomes.com) right below the villa you are looking at.
Will you stay at Bongo Bongo again or are you exploring new locations? Did you get sunsets at BB?

Hi Colleen! Would not hesitate to stay at Bongo Bongo again and in fact would likely prefer it. But that being said we are always exploring options. BB is $400 a night in the off season and while our honeymoon was one thing I feel slightly priced out of there for a regular vacation. If that makes any sense. We stayed 9 nights last time and really enjoyed having the extended stay and feel like we might need to find something else at a lower price point if we take a trip in 2007. Unless of course we find some money laying around some where!

I'm sure the sunsets are great at BB but as it turned out we didn't not have one decent sunset during our entire trip. Seemed the late afternoons clouded over while we were there and the sunset was nothing much to speak of. Come to think of it, I'm sure I should have insisted on some sort of refund for that! Like 50% off my next visit to Bongo Bongo - the NERVE of those guys - denying me sunsets on my Honeymoon no less!!!!!!!!

Ha kidding of course. Highly recommend Bongo Bongo and would love to return.

Hi Marybeth,

We leave on Thanksgiving Day, 5 MORE DAYS! WOOOOO HOOOO!

It is a good day for travel, no crowds and we usually get a good deal. We booked in March, after watching the fares for a few weeks. Last year we flew round trip from STL to Las Vegas for $99 round-trip for Thanksgiving.

If you're not stuck with family for the Turkey feast, It is a good day to fly.

I read on another forum that it is a slow period for travel on the islands, "after TG week crush and prior to the Christmas crowds"

PatR, have a great time! Enjoy Miles Away and I hope you let us know about it!
I am going to keep that in mind for next year. This year I will get the family used to the idea that I might not be around next year! :)
