Olympus Stylus scene modes

Hi everyone with an Olympus Stylus! I just purchased the older 720 model for our next SJU trip (didn't want to spend a lot of money and got a great deal on it). Does any one know if there's a way to pre-program certain scene modes so they can be accessed quicker - or is there a way to save a scene mode so you don't loose your selection after powering down? I'd like to get the underwater modes more at my fingertips so I don't have to keep scrolling through the modes when I'm snorkeling.(I usually power down if I'm not going to be taking another shot immediately so I can conserve battery power.)

Thanks for any help!!!

This is the back of my 770SW. It's been a while, but I think if you hit the Camera/shake/scene button next to the little speaker, it will take you to your last scene setting.

Good luck. Also, that little +/- on the 4way rocker helps you up the brightness underwater which helps alot.

Doesn't it just stay on the same scene until you change it even after you turn it off? Most cameras do that, at least now. Also, if you need the manual for the camera, you can find it here:

It has been a while since I used my 770, but I think Steve is right. If you select the "scene" button, it will come up to the last "scene" that was selected. I don't know if that holds true for the 720, but I would imagine it does.

BTW, good tip on the +/- on the rocker, I did not know that. Thanks.

When you power the 720 back on, it will remember your custom settings, but not return to a scene mode.

When I hit the "shooting" button (the camera/shake/scene button) twice - it goes to the scene selections - the actual menu of scene modes. Not just the last scene I used. So it looks like I'll need to hit the "shooting" button twice and then the "OK/func" button once to continue taking pictures in a scene mode I was using before turning it off.

Anyone with a 720 that found a short cut?

I called Olympus and they confirmed that the 720 SW does in fact reset the scene modes to the camera settings when powered down. They also said that all of their Stylus cameras are this way. So, as a work around, if there is a scene mode you use frequently - like an underwater mode while snorkeling the beautiful waters of St. John - just set the camera settings to match the scene mode's settings - then you don't have to select the scene mode each time the camera is turned on.

Also, thanks for the +/- tip and other comments.
