John just sent me this wire story--did you guys see it? Poor lady. We saw a stingray jump out of the water at Francis once.

That's so weird! I guess when it's your time to go, it's your time to go! Such a freak incident!! Sad.

File that under fate or destiny, or whatever. I feel bad for her family. She probably never knew what happened. Life is short and unpredictable, that's why I take lots of vacations. I'd rather be hit by a stingray on a boat in blue water than hit by a semi driving home from the office.

Yep, saw that story on CNN today @ work. Crazy stuff! Feel sorry for the poor woman and her family having to witness that freak accident. About 2-3 years ago that happened to a man I think here in FLA somewhere, can't remember for sure. Same thing though, the ray flew outa the water and into the boat :o
I just hope the public doesn't start thinking that rays are vicious and "out to get" humans  Don't ya think that something must have been chasing it or spooked it outa the water? I've swam with stingrays twice...once in Grand Cayman and in Belize. They appeared pretty much non-threatening and friendly.

GREAT one alw1977...I agree

Happy Easter everybody :)

I'd guess this is an accident rather than an attack.

Freaky.

We once saw a ray fly right by our boat near Smuggler's Cove. I was scared but our captain, a real free spirit, was all excited.. two months later, that poor guy, so full of life, was dead, shot in NY in a freak situation. Yes, life is too short and uncertain not to take as many vacations as possible.

I was there and it WAS quite a special day, Maryanne. Thank you for the perspective, and I agree about the vacations!

I guess the actual cause of death has been determined, and has been reported that it was due to her head injury as a result of her fall - so sad
