Hi everyone. I hope you can help me! My father's flight will be landing about 2 hours after ours. I need a meeting place that he can get to easily after he gets off the Ferry. I was hoping there is a bar or restaurant or something that he can hang out in until we can circle back and get him. We planned on getting our car, getting to the market etc. while we wait for him. I am afraid that his cell phone...or ours may not work, so a meeting place would be great. Any suggestions?

I assume you're talking about St. John, not St. Thomas, right? How about JJ's Texas Coast Cafe? It's right across from the ferry dock and you will be able to see the ferry arrive from there. Or The Balcony... you could see the ferry from there, too!
Love your forum name!

Thank you California Girl! Originally our flights were arriving within 20 minutes of each other, but American cancelled our direct flight which really messed everything up. JJ's sounds like it will be perfect. My dad will be happy with his painkiller while he waits for us to come and retrieve him. I was hoping he could take a taxi to our villa, but we are staying in upper Carolina...it doesn't sound like taxi's go there for 1 person. If anyone knows otherwise...please let me know! Thanks again...

What about the beach bar? He can see the ferry come in and not have to get up until the last minute.

We have the exact same situation in May. We arrive 2 hours before the second couple (Newbies). I told them to "walk straight off the ferry dock and look across the street, through the park and find the umbrella tables at JJ's. Sit yourself down and enjoy a beer and wait for us to pick you up."

Is the beach bar just as close to the ferry? That sounds pretty cool also. I just don't want him schlepping too far with his luggage. We will have 3 kids with us, so we will need a place to meet where we can find him fairly easily...my 3 will be anxious to get back to the villa to start swimming! I just love this forum, by the way....

The beach bar might be a little harder with luggage

The Beach Bar is actually downstairs from The Balcony (more or less) and you can see it from the ferry dock so it's a good place to meet, too. But like waterguy says, it might be a little more difficult with luggage. So would The Balcony for that matter, now that I think about it. For ease in finding each other, I guess I'd have to stay with JJ's.

I agree that JJ's will probably be easiest with luggage. Just make sure you have a plan for if a flight gets delayed. On our last trip, the other family ended waiting in the STT airport because their flight was 45 minutes late, so we just hooked up there. Also, if your plane is delayed for any reason, he may not want to have to wait for longer at one of the bars in town.

Get "throw away" ATT cell phones.
High Tide is the closest bar to the ferry and within line of sight.

Get the phone Number of the villa he could call you there then by the time he gets his luggage a taxi to the ferry and ferry ride you could take a relaxing ride back to cruz bzy and a drink at one of the bars and meet him as he gets off the ferry

2 hours? Get the car. Go to Starfish for food and beverages. Drop the provisions, luggage, and kids at the villa (ages?...maybe not). Great idea about the villa phone. And the cell phone works through the local provider SunCom. Make sure to scratch a message in the sand beside the ferry dock!

Have you considered taking his luggage with you on your flight so he only has a carry on to lug around?
