I love the spontaneity! I did something nearly/equally as daring, I extended my Jan/Feb trip for an additional 10 days, and I found everything I needed somehow.
The last minute spots I found were Cool Breeze had several vehicle options and I managed to have a jeep. Concordia had some space, though that is far from being a hotel, no tv, no electric, all solar, but the most gorgeous view. I also found a cute little 1 br apt on Johns Folly. I could give you info on that one. Not sure what you are looking for, but I would bet you could find something, atleast for first few nights, then you can try punting! Nice locals tend to be a wealth of info...or keep trying us here. Go for it.

I would call a few of the major rental agencies and then if no luck try cyberrentals.com where you can search by availablility - I was not sure if you meant this Weds or next - but it looks like they definitely had some villas with availability. Also check vrbo.com where each villa has an availability calendar. Good Luck!!! I hope everything works out!

We just found a Jeep for May with Bougainvillea
http://www.stjohnjeeps.com/ . Don't know if they can help you for anything now. You'll just have to call around to some of the lesser known agenies like Paris, L&L, Cool Breeze and see what you find. Or you may have to rent on STT and ferry over.

www.villafish.com has a date search engine that turned up some results. Give it a try, or even give them a call/email to see if they can help.

Vivacations has a search function on their site where you can plug in your dates and whatever is open will come up.
Have you tried vrbo.com?
