Air conditioning in August?

My husband and I are planning our first STJ trip for our 25th anniversary and have come across a villa we're interested in, House of Open Arms on Coral Bay, but it doesn't have air conditioning so we're a little hesitant to book it. I was hoping for some opinions and feedback whether air conditioning is necessary.

Thanks!!

For me, no way can I do without a/c (in the bedrooms at least) from April - November :) but in July, August, September it is an absolute must.

I agree 100%. I notice that the OP is from Georgia. So am I, and you know how hot and muggy August in Georgia tends to be? Well, imagine that with even higher humidity and stronger sun.

The only months I'd consider foregoing A/C in the Caribbean are December - March.

It stinks when the "perfect" place lacks A/C.

Yes A/C is a must in August, our villa had A/C in the bedrooms only and I don't think anyone would have slept well without it.

I'd have to say A/C would be a top priority [at least in the bedrooms] in that area in August.

Let me speak from experience...the experience of renting a house in August where the bedroom A/C didn't work.

Imagine hell.

Make it more humid...by a factor of 37,000

You have StJ in August.

You want A/C in the bedrooms.
You need A/C in the bedrooms.

Of course, we'll be there in August again this year...in a house where the AC is known to work.

If you think you need a/c in august, then you most likely do. Not a problem since it is very easy to find small places with a/c in the bedrooms.

Look at Tranquility, for example. www.stjohnvillarental.com, and click on Tranquility.

Or Meritage Cottage, In Harmony Retreat, etc. Lots of choices available, so try to get something you will be comfortable with.

My wife refuses to ever use a/c, but we have high ceilings and fans, and a natural breeze. Still, there are nights when a little a/c would be nice.
