Anyone NOT going to St. John in 2008?

Anyone NOT going to St. John in 2008? I desperately need some company!
Hubby & I have decided (in the life is to short to keep going to the same place mode) to "venture new" & try out Barbados this April - instead of returning to our tried & true St. John. Last 2 April vacations have been in St. John - Year before that, 1 week in St. Thomas with a day trip to St. John. We have been "hooked" ever since.
Due to finances, time, etc we only take 1 week of vacation to a "warmer climate" each year.
That all said....I still find myself, almost daily, frequenting this forum. And wondering how I will make it through this year without my "St. John fix".
Guess I just need another "group hug" or some "inspirational words" to help me through.
I know that you guys will help me out!

Due to our banner year for vacations in '07 (Grand Canyon/AZ, STJ and France) we are sadly not going to STJ in '08.

We are also doing the "life is too short and so many places to see" thing this year. In May, we are taking a 12 day vacation to Virgin Gorda and Anegada. We have heard so many good things about BVIs from other forumites here and also from a BVI forum. So we are looking forward to our trip to a new place. But we also talk about STJ a lot, look at this forum and OSJ, and plan for our next trip, whenever that may be.

I'm with you!
School + business = limited time to travel (basically, over New Years.) I was unsuccessful trying to use miles to get to STT, so we're using miles to get to Kauai in December. Yes, I'm excited about that, but still obsessively checking villas etc. for STJ! Something about STJ just felt right for us. Maybe 2009!

I'm not going to St. John this year, but I'm saving for next year. This year started with Grand Cayman for me, to be followed by trips to New Orleans for Jazz Fest in April, San Francisco in June for a reunion with some elementary school friends, and Orlando in AUGUST (! - pant, pant) for work. I'm tired already!!
Our last year??

Well we are going back this year (as we have for the last 6 years) but as always we are saying this will be our last year 'cause there are just too many other places in the world to see. I'm heading back to Africa in August so in reality the travel money probably will run out for a while but I can't bring myself to imagine a year without a couple of weeks of ST. JOHN BLISS!

Though I continue to lobby and a November trip is a slim possibility, I doubt I will get to STJ in 2008. We are definitely going back in June of 2009.
This year: San Diego in January, Disney/Orlando in March, Denver in August, and probably the OBX in August (I am still debating the options for August --- STJ?).
We try to do one beach one "cultural" trip a year - not that I really count the Disney thing as cultural.

We, too, are not going this year - because of this, I don't come out to the forum as often as I used to - it's just too sad!
This year we opted for a dream vacation to New Zealand, which means no other vacations until 2009. We hope to return to St. John then. November is our favorite month to visit, so it looks like it will be close to two years from now before our next visit. Our last trip was Feb 2007, so after having gone annually for 6 years, this is an eternity for us.

We are going back this year. I offer this, not to gloat, but to explain why we are so myopic.
There is a whole world out there. Greece, Spain and all of the other Caribbean islands draw me and make me wonder whether we should continue to go to STJ, year after year.
In the end, for us, the "place" is just a backdrop, scenery. It's our time alone, together that really matters. We have a villa, a pool, beautiful beaches, people on-island that we like to consider friends, and each other. For us, it's about us. I know, that sounds selfish. But, for the other 50 weeks a year, we get up at dawn and make the donuts and we take care of our kids. For these two weeks, we take care of our marriage.
I'm cool. I'm fine with slumming another year in STJ with my wife.

This will be our second trip together, I don't count my 5 years on island as a trip
Chip "gets it" and would be happy on STJ every year, but I think next year will be doing something different.
<insert> We enjoy cruising so I think next year we will probably cruise again. We don't pick a cruise based on the stops but on the ship. We enjoy the ports but enjoy the ship on port days even more. For the price of a STJ vacation, I can cruise in a huge suite with a private balcony and a butler.
But then again, who knows. He may change his mind and we could be back on island in 2009.

No trips at all for us - instead we opted to have a baby. I'm due towards the end of July so that is pretty much our summer for us. I told hubby that we need to plan a trip for the early spring 2009 - at least somewhere...I am sure we will need it at that point!
