ok, dont think i have seen this question? does anyone know if most villas have generators? everytime we go down it seems the power goes out. are renters allowed to use the generators? i am one of those people that need that a/c at night to sleep!!!!!. thanks guys

the place we stayed in last year (Villa Capiz) did not have one. The house next door (Cielo Vista) did and it seemed to come on automatically as soon as the power went out. I don't think anyone was staying in that house at the time.

Interesting question. The owner of the place that we stayed at, Villa Calabreeze, was connecting it to his generator the day that we checked out.

They're pretty much standard in the Bahama Out Islands.

When I was a property manager, none of our houses had them.

I don't know if I have ever stayed in a house with a generator. Maybe Golden Dragon had one but I am not sure. I do know that Golden Dragon is the only house we've rented that we did not lose power at at some point.

Interesting question! I think if I was a villa owner and I had a generator, I would want it listed as a villa amenity on the rental site, to appeal to people like you, islandgirl!

thanks guys. liamsaunt, yes you are so right..they should list it on their villa amenities. i quess only the most expensive villas have back up generators. we are looking for a place under 1000 a week, which is hard to find..and i am sure they dont have generators or a/c in the cheaper places. still looking..hmmmmm

The only home I've stayed in that had one was Still Waters in Chocolate Hole. We were there for a week in November about 5 years ago when it poured down rain for 8 straight days and the power was off as much as it was on. The owner lived in the house below us and the generator powered both houses. He turned it on manually each time the power went out. It turned out to be our very favorite thing about staying there given the conditions.

Rivendell (where we just stayed) had an automatic generator but since the power didn't go out, we didn't get the chance to see if it worked!

Only one of the villas we stayed at (Le Lapin) had a generator that kicked in when power went out. Other villas either didn't have it or had it but it was for emergencies only such as hurricanes.
I have to admit it was nice to have one though it is not crucial for us as long as power isn

Ooooh, sweet! I can leave the battery operated toys at home. Though, the hand cranked camping blender is fun.
