liquids must be in the qt size baggie.....
but not toothpaste and powder since they are not liquids?
Either I am just missing it or Spirit's site and TSA do not explain what they mean as liquids.
I carry toothpaste and my toothbrush and dental floss in my purse all the time and never got busted flying with it. Granted the last time I was on a plane was the end of 2006...........

Technically the toothpaste should go in your ziploc, as it is a gel. It's liquids and gels you are supposed to put in the baggie. Powders can go seperate from the ziplocked stuff.

Thank you liamsaunt........I thought gels and liquids were the same......someone told me that my moisturizer for my face was not a liquid.....she flies to the bahamas every month on Spirit never checks bags but I think she was wrong.........

Liamsaunt is right. It was explained to me that if you can spill it, smeer it, spray it or squirt it (I'm sure they have even more than that on their list) put it in the ziplock bag or risk giving it up.

It's easy enough to buy toothpaste in the VI if that helps any.

Funny story - while in the security line at PHL recently, a TSA official was making a general announcement about how all liquids and gels need to be in the ziplock bags, and seeing our five young girls in line, also announced "any lip glosses need to be in the bags too." My 9-yr old realizes she has a chapstick-like gloss in her purse and I can see by the look on her face that she's worried. So then I see her slyly pull the tube out of her purse and drop it in mine! I guess she'd rather have Mom get caught instead of her...sneaky. Fortunately, us moms have eyes in the backs of our heads...

Exactly. I'm a meat scientist and often hand-carry meat on planes and that is my experience...I can take frozen gel packs in my carry-on but not once they're thawed.
