We'll probably be cooking most of our meals at the house, but expect to dine out 3-4 times during our stay. We don't want elegant.....or outrageously expensive. What are your two favorite restaurants? Can you expect to get a decent meal for say $30pp not including drinks?

The Banana Deck, Cafe Roma, Sogos and the Lime Inn are within your price range. Paradiso might squeak in on some selections. Sogos is the most interesting, but they are all solid. On the lower end, JJ's Texas Coast, Sosa's, Woodys is loud (the grilled mahi sandwich is good). My Puerto Rican buddy loves Sosa's.

If you're on Cruz Bay side, Lime Inn, Morgan's Mango, Banana Deck are all good bets. You can check their menus online for prices. Shipwreck Landing would also be a great choice if you don't mind the drive across the island.

Skinny's, Island Blues and Shipwreck in Coral Bay would definitely fit the bill....possibly Aqua Bistro as well.

Lime Inn, Morgan's Mango, and Rhumblines would be good choices in Cruz Bay.

We liked The Balcony and The Banana Deck in Cruz Bay. Miss Lucy's in Coral Bay. Didn't like Morgan's Mango, but it might just have been a bad night.

One of my favorites is Sweet Plantains in Coral Bay - great food, decent prices... and an atmosphere I like to call "swanky". The owners are Rose and Prince - great people and lots of love in the food [always a must].

Hope this helps...

There are loads of restaurants on St. John. Many choices. I've been looking for a few weeks, checked a million sources, and stumbled on a list at www.stjohntravelforum.com in the restaurant section. Since my bride won't get near a stove during a trip, we'll be eating out a lot!

If someone said I could only eat out twice my entire trip, I'd pick Cafe Roma (italian)in Cruz Bay and Skinny Legs in Coral Bay for a burger.

A bit pricier, but still awesome is La Tapa.

Woody's wings and beer are a regular for our trip too!

My favorite by far is SKINNY'S in Coral. I dream about their burgers (even when I'm on island)! Another fav in Coral is DONKEY DINNER ever since our neighbor Barb said it's a breakfast must. Traditional and "island" themed breakfast. My favorite was the coconut-cranberry muffin. Very yummy and kept me snorkleing all morning. Now it's our stop on the way to Saltpond.
If you plan on staying in Cruz, check out RHUMBLINES. Cute little place with a great asian theme. The pupu platters are a great choice for those who are as indecisive as I am.
Now....if you can swing a little pricier dinner I'm partial to STONE TERRACE. Partly because of the amazing food and partly because my boyfriend (islandchef) worked there last summer. Sometimes, if I'm really lucky, he'll practice some of the recipes at home.

Our favorites are Lime Inn,Banana Deck, Rhumb Lines. We also enjoy Woody's shrimp and their pasta salad when you want to go a little more casual.
