Jellyfish at Francis?

Just curious if I'm the only one this has happend to. On our first trip in May 2002, we snorkled at Francis in the mid-morning. I felt several little sting-like sensations within a few minute span, and then the vicinity got a little red and itchy. I soon after noticed small jellies, if I was paying close attention, that I tried to avoid, and didn't notice any other "stinging" incidents. Was it just coincidence seeing jellies, and probably not jelly stings (more like irritations), that caused the sensation, or are there sometimes jellies at Francis, and maybe I was just more sensitive than the other people I was with  . I want to get back to Francis to hopefully see turtles this visit, but I'm a little wary, even though I know I shouldn't be ! I hope some of you have some insight as to what this could have been

Frank,
I was stung mildly at Francis a couple of years ago (July 06). Last year I didn't see any and didn't get stung. Francis is one of my favorite beaches. I think maybe it is the time of year from what I remember reading on it.
I don't know if this will help, but I hope it does.

We occasionally see the little silver dollar sized jellies at various beaches. I've had mild reactions occasionally, but none since I started taking claritin to avoid mosquito bite itchies.

Cheers, RickG

Claritin works for mosquito bites? I did not know that! I am definitely packing some.

I've swum through those little jellies a bunch of times and have never had a reaction. The ones I try to actively avoid are the moon jellies. I don't know if they sting or not but they are big enough to make me swim in the opposite direction!
