New acts have been added to the sixth annual St. John Blues Festival presented by Steven Simon, with five live blues shows over five days beginning on Wednesday, March 19, and running through Sunday, March 23.
The festival's main concert is scheduled for Saturday evening, March 22, at 7 p.m. in the Coral Bay ball field and stars New Orleans blues legends Tab Benoit, Chubby Carrier and The Bayou Swamp Band, Waylon Thibodeaux and International Blues Competition winner Sean Carney and the Sean Carney Band.

This year's St. John Blues Festival is dedicated to the Voice of the Wetlands to assist Benoit's efforts to put a stop to the dramatic and constant loss of Louisiana's wetlands.

Advance tickets are $25, tickets at the gate $30. Children under 18 admitted free. Food and beverage service will be available all evening. Bring a blanket, bring a chair, but please be cool -- no coolers.

Advance ticket sales are available on St. John at Connections in Cruz Bay and Coral Bay and Chelsea Drug Store in The Marketplace. Tickets are also available on St. Thomas at Modern Music in Havensight and Chelsea Drug Store in Red Hook.

The sixth annual St. John Blues Festival is brought to you by The Lumberyard Retail Complex, Merchants Commercial Bank, Coors Light, Theodore Tunick and Company, Holiday Homes, FirstBank, the Inn at Tamarind Court, Shipwreck Landing, Aqua Bistro, Sunny FM, Isle 95, and Steve and Helen Simon.

Hey Jen

The only event that we are a maybe on is Wednesday night. The same folks are playing Thursday at Aqua Bistro and that's walking distance to our villa. But, I hate to miss a party!

We are also watching the entertainment calendar on seestjohn.com hoping for some more live music action. I'd love to see Chubby Carrier; we hired his father for our homebrewers campout one year. Last year and this year we booked Tom Principato.

Cheers, RickG

What can we do to twist your arm Rick??? Other than remind you what fun that opening night can be...

If we miss you...it's understandable that walking home is much easier than driving...after a good party...just sayin'...

Sweet Christine was teasing me at dinner tonight, she's expecting me to drive her there. I guess I need to behave at least one night.

Driving back to Coral Bay late is always scary - 20 mph and wrong side of the road. In DC they throw you jail for that. On STJ, its the law! Just kidding, I don't mind the drive at all - No cement trucks at night.

Cheers, RickG
