Our Gang of 24 had a great time for Thanksgiving week in 2006. The kids are still talking about it and the adults are trying to figure out how they can do it again. We've done smaller groups a couple of times on STJ and Tortola and had a splendid time.

Cheers, RickG

I would kill..ok, maim...to go back this thanksgiving, but its complicated and we are going in June of 09 so I can't quite justify it to the hubby with all that we have going on!

We had a great time. We were there the entire week of Thanksgiving and came back the Friday after. Very light airport traffic both directions which was very nice.

Any specific questions send my way. Weather was perfect, water could be slightly chilly if the day was cloudy but I never felt hot at all. Very comfy.

We went Thanksgiving of 2007 like Flip Flop. Actually we were there the week before.

We usually go in the summer and we were surprised how much different a few things were (at least the week we were there). It was great, just a little different than summer.

The weather was cooler, especially at night. We no longer would have air conditioning as a "must have" when visiting over Thanksgiving. It is pretty brutal in the summer, although it doesn't really bother us. The nights were lovely over Thanksgiving and the inside of the villa was more comfortable.

The pool was chilly. I would add a hot tub to our "must haves" for Thanksgiving. We spent almost no time in the pool and that was a little disappointing. But we enjoyed being on the deck more in the cooler air.

The water was rougher some days, which the kids loved. Especially at Cinnamon, which has that tendency anyways. The beaches also seemed a bit narrower (difference in the tides?)

It also rained more. We still managed to get out every day, we just drove to the dry side of the island. I had a friend there the week before and they had several days of rain with no sun.

All of that said, this could just be due to the week we were there. We prefer summer, but we are hard core St. John lovers and don't mind being really hot and grimy all day, hiking and snorkeling, etc...I can see how some would definitely prefer Thanksgiving weather.

And we ARE going back this Thanksgiving! We just love the summer because that is when we have always been there in the past.

Thank you for your responses. We are going to do it.

Rick, 24 Wow! We have 19 going and I thought that was alot.

Flip Flop I remember reading your post and that you brought your baby with you. I will probably asking for advice as the trip gets closer since my sister is bringing her twins with her who will be 9 months old in November.

DJMom, I am going in July as well with my husband and kids. My parents are springing for the Thanksgiving trip. It will be alot easier to leave St. John in July knowng that I will be back in 4 months.

Kat, I took along memory lane and pulled out my trip report from Thanksgiving 2006. I actually need to post the last section...

Also, here's the newbies guide to STJ that I wrote for the trip.
