I know I've read this before- the cab ride from STT to Red Hook is long- how Long? Our flight leaves at 3 on a Thursday in Mid march- so we need to take the 12 ferry from STJ to Red hook- there's no noon ferry to CA- so how long is the cab ride to STT from Red Hook- we plan to take the CA over on Sat - we arrive at 2 and plan to take the 3:00 CA ferry- is that enough time to get bags and take cab and get ticket for ferry-

The one thing that I have learned is to not try and plan your arrival to carefully. You can be a few minutes late, have to wait for luggae or a taxi and your plan can fold quickly.
Try for the 3:00 but if you are pulling up and the ferry is leaving you can just continue on to Red Hook and catch the 4:00

For a 3:00 return, you are smart to take the Noon Red Hook. That should get you to the airport around 1 and leave you plenty of time to get through customs and immigration. The airport food can be hit or miss, so stop and grab a sandwich on STJ and you will have something to eat before getting on the plane.

X is right, this is probably the only part of the trip not to plan because if you do something always happens like a late flight. If you don't know the ferry schedule, take a copy in your carry-on and when you get to the airport and get your luggage then decide which ferry to take, this will also make your trip less stressful! The taxi ride between Red hook and the airport is about 20-30 minute, 10 min from airport to CA. The ferry ride is about 20 min Red hook to Cruz bay and 45 mins CA-Cruz Bay. I prefer the longer ferry ride to the taxi but I just go the way that gets us there first. Make sure to have all your contact info with you so you can call your Jeep rental agency and villa Rep. to let them know which ferry you will be arriving on so they can meet you at the dock. Good luck and have a Great trip.
